FYI the Fire Iridium lens variant is even cheaper, $39.99

They can't/won't ship the Fire Iridium but the 24K Iridium ones are ok to send to Australia? Amazon is really weird sometimes…

    • Sorry, this item can't be shipped to your selected address.

      Thanks anyway

      • Yeah, just updated the comment. WTF Amazon?

        • Just missed it.
Yeah Amazon are strange like that.

    • Updated the post to clarify that, it's just the brown frame with the Iridium lens. I did check all variants prior to posting..Thanks

The US has restrictions on shipping high tech to some countries ……. After all they are iridium …..

    • Seriously, what is the go with this? Does anyone know why Amazon works like this? I assume it is to do with some brand's licensing agreements in certain regions and not being allowed to sell cross region? Aka. so the locals can be extorted with exorbitant pricing.

    are these for kids?

    • +1

"Cool" kids. You'd be better off with a pair of Cancer Council sunnies

      • Yep if you are after plastic lenses the cancer council are as just as good as they need to comply to a standard. Also safety gear shops are good if you want bolle or Carrera … Get blades style for bike riding there much cheaper than hipster bike shops.

Only sunnies worth paying top dollar for are glass lens versions which have best optical clarity and don't scratch as easily.

        • and this oakley in the post is glass?
not sure why the name is frogskin

          edit i think plastic

Sold by Woot and Fulfilled by Amazon. Gift-wrap available.
          Plastic
          Made in US
          Plastic frame
          Plastic lens
          Non-polarized Iridium
          100% UV protection coating
          Lens width: 51 millimeters

        • Oakley and many other companies focus on plastic lenses, they are cheaper to make and result in bigger margins as they can focus on the brand and fashion rather than the lens. Glass lenses are in some Ray-Ban, some Maui Jim, Persol, some Revo but always cost more than plastic in the same brand. You would hate a plastic mobile phone screen as it scratches easily …

Compare the cost of the same brand from a safety gear supplier and hipster retailer to know how much markup the brand and fashion adds.

        • @garage sale: I actually prefer plastic for sunnies since they're much lighter than glass.

        • Pretty sure cancer council use good quality lenses, not plastic.

I have 3 pairs of these, and think they are a good pair of sunnies. The plastic also makes them lighter. I have a pair of Persol, which are similar style and find them more 'front heavy'. I actually prefer the frogskins.

Of course, the Persols cost $250, these are around the $100, so a fair bit cheaper.

    • Occticanet are cheap on Persol non polarised $150 delivered FedEx instead of 230in Australia …Tool 5 days to front door after I placed oreder. Ray-Ban wayfarers with glass lenses are cheap in many places even singlasshut do 30% off just by asking.

Yes plastic is lighter but I hate the scratch factor.

  • Adding a shipping fee when I try to checkout. Am I doing something wrong?

    • It's not free shipping to Australia.

      • Thanks, I see now the title adds the shipping cost into the AUD figure but not the USD figure, hence my misunderstanding.

        Cheers.
