Ideally want to eat Chinese meal but others Asian dish is also okay. Where can we eat cheapest in Chinatown?
Doesn't matter is lunch or dinner or maybe day or night time standard price meal
Thanks

I usually hit Yang's 234 Little Bourke for Lunch
(If you don't want to feel rushed, eat upstairs).

I don't know any places in Chinatown but quite a few Japanese and Taiwanese places on Swanston St and surrounds have lunch and dinner specials for around $8.
Victoria Street, Richmond :)
There's a Chinese shop that sells lunch for 6.80 or dinner for 9.80.
These are rice dishes. Cash only. Good meals tbh
mind sharing that shop name? we happy to go there
I forgot haha. But during lunch/dinner time they will have a huge sign with the cheap price lol. It's towards the little Bourke and Russell St end.
@ragrum: I've been on my own search for cheap lunches in Melbourne, so I tried this place out. The price is up to $7.80, and the food wasn't to my taste. Others might enjoy it though.
I enjoyed Old Shanghai dumpling house. The person I are with thought it was filthywith bad service. I thought the service was perfectly adequate for the number of patrons being served. A dish that looked nothing like the photo was rapidly exchanged for another one with no fanfare or apology. I don't do cheap to be fawned over. I do cheap to have interesting food and possibly share a long table with people I would never ordinarily come into contact with.
Don Don!
For lunch there's quite a few places that do $10 dishes. Though dondon is the most popular.
