I need help to choose between 3 TV

Hello,

I'm looking to buy a TV and I have 3 choices in my budget, I'd be grateful if you could tell me which would be your pick or have any other recommendation.

LG 55UH615T
https://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/lg-55uh615t

Samsung ua55ku6000w
https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/samsung-55-inches140cm-uhd-le…

JVC
https://www.bigw.com.au/product/jvc-55-uhd-smart-tv/p/WCC100…

Thanks for your help !

EDIT:

In the end I settled for the Samsung.
I went to The good guys, they had both TV next to each other. The LG had better definition (image looked more defined) and Samsung had better colors (more vibrant).
I went with extra 5 years warranty as I wanted the peace of mind … still I ponder if I made such a good deal. In this time period there's no many sales, since my old Tv died I didn't want to wait until financial year sales to purchase it.

Comments

  • I own the 55UH615T

    • IPS Panel
    • True 100hz
    • Game Mode
    • Low input lag / 4k and 1080p
    • Built in Netflix
    • Excellent Wifi / Streaming services
    • Web OS 3.0 which is really good, no lag, skips or issues
    • Chroma 4:4:4 (important for PC use) and does Full RGB too
-HDMI 2.2 / HDCP as well
    • Always updated by LG with firmwares
-DLNA Support, I run my own streaming server, LG TV integrates nicely with Kodi, very happy with the TV so far
    • 1 Year warranty is a little bit crap but tbh consumer law is good enough anyway

I have been very happy with it, even if its entry level 4K, the claims of IPS issues have not been present for me, thin bezel and a nice tv overall

You can get it for about 980 at the good guys FYI / JB Hifi, any more and you are being ripped off, I priced matched Video PRO

Might be a little hard to get it for that price but I can possibly upload reciept as a comparision for you anyway

Looks like prices have gone back up but I got it for a steal tbh

Panasonic is not too bad, not sure of its features, but I would keep away from the JVC, you are better off buying "bauhn" at Aldi

    • Thanks, I guess my TV didn't choose a good time to die, not many discount around. As for the price, I didn't expect you could get it for so low, I doubt they would match a few months old price but I appreciate the gesture.

I tried to look for a Bauhn but I couldn't find any at the aldi around me. Any tips to haggle to get a better price?

      • Upload of reciepts usually work for me
        depends on your local store
Goodguys are much better than my local JBHifi

        • +1

Then I would gladly accept :)

        • I'D greatly appreciate if you could upload the receipt, I'll have a try at GG

          @Bubbleshark:
Before you decide PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF DOG play with the TV's.

The User Experience (or UI) is VERY IMPORTANT.
You're gonna use this for a long-time, so its important it is something fast, intuitive, smooth to use.
Otherwise, you might get frustrated at every click… even if it has the best panel in the world.

        • @Kangal: best place to openly test drive tv's? I assume harvey norman or the good guys?

        • @Kangal: Wow for the love of Doge, I'll very play with it, much buttons, many settings. I actually never considered it until I tried a Hisense (not bad but very slow to power on and sluggish menu). Thanks for the heads up

        • @AlienC:
Myer has them on display. JB hifi is no good from my experience.

        • @Kangal:
The UI is extremely fast on the LG
          WebOS 3.0 made huge improvements
Not to mention 4 core processor / 6 step scaling is another good benefit of the LG
          Everything works very well
          If anything its almost perfect

Input from the remote is almost instant 0.1s at least
          changing channels is quick
          input selection is great
good volume too with 2x 10w RMS down firing speakers ( I own a soundbar for obvious reasons but stock sound is good)
          Couldn't be happier

No sluggish menus on the LG
Forgot to mention, I knew it was good by the time to turn on (under 5 seconds) and the speed at which everything rendered
its a good tv for the money
as much as people hate the IPS panel I have found it to be awesome, even for gaming

        • @PVA: I might try to go to JB and negociate a little to get this one https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/289363
It's the model up from the one at Myer.

Why JB isn't good in your opinion? (I think they will be bought by the good guys, I ponder if I should get extended warranty)

        • @shawncro 222: It's very hard to make a choice and as Kangal mentionned, the best would be to have a look personnaly. Even when in store, it's not that easy as you can't switch to different sources as TV, DVD, PC or try on a console.

I was a bit concerned about the contrast of IPS panels, but I imagine it shouldn't really make a difference in everyday use.

Thanks for your input, that definitely gave me some food for thought!

        • @Bubbleshark:
JB is fine to buy from but last time I was looking for TVs I wanted to check the way they work by using the remote and seeing what FTA looks like. They could help, they didn't have a remote and all TVs were connected to the same central video feed.
Myer and David jones let me play around with the remotes and control the TVs I was interested in.

  • +1

    Samsung or LG :)

  • Lg I think. But Jc is cheap ( but basically a no name brand now)

    • PVA JVC is made with the exact same components as the Bauhn series of TVs
second rate Samsung Panel but still not a bad product for the price
I went with LG because it ticked all the boxes for the price

4:4:4 chroma (my desktop plugged in)
      Game Mode
      Apps onboard (netflix etc)
      decent 4K performance
      Quick Menus
Remote input time (low on LG)
      Good sound for a TV (2 x 10 w downfiring speakers)

      • Thanks. I guess I could have written it better. I meant the JVC is cheap but it isn't the JVC of old. Like you said, cheaper specs but geez $700 for a 55 inch TV!!!!
