Air Asia to Honolulu?

I just read they've been approved, but don't recall seeing any deals. Is this old news or is it new?

It's not a deal to get to HNL from the east coast of Australia via KUL and Osaka. It's 10,000 km further and an extra 20 hours or so.

AirAsia doesn't even let you book it on a single ticket, probably because it's that much of a massive detour.

However from Perth it's only about 4,000km further than going via Sydney.

Right now the cheapest return flight from KL to Hawaii is probably with Jetstar via Sydney :)

When this flight path begins it might make it cheaper to do a circular backpacking trip (e.g. Syd -> Honolulu -> Osaka -> Kuala Lumpur -> Sydney) since there probably aren't any budget one way options between Honolulu and Osaka yet.

  Yup, best is go direct with Jetstar, Air Asia X may be cheap but it ain't cheap going the long way.
