  • Any views on how this compares to Meguiar's NXT?

  • +1

IMO meguiars ultimate is much better

I already tell my mother to wash my car

  • I have Meguiar's NXT but the stains I get from parking on the road are very hard to shift. Anyone got a suggestion for something stronger on a white exterior (ie not metallic or pearl)?

You should polish, then seal your car, then wax it.
      Then washing will be painless.
Happy to recommend products that have amazed me recently.

        Do tell.

@Risto: Thanks. So you don't go for any commercial products? Like Meguiars, Turtle Wax etcs ones that Supercheap Auto sells?

So the sequence is wash > polish > seal > wax? How often does a routine like that happen?

@sky blu: hi Sky, the wax I listed above is honestly a revelation. I have used Meguiars and Mothers waxes in the past and they simply do not last as long. If the car is really in poor condition the process is wash > clay > polish > seal > wax.

But my cars are in pretty good condition and I have never clayed them. Therefore the sequence you describe above is what I do.

I would seal every 6 months and wax whenever the urge gets to me. Waxing can be every 2-3 months (it is really easy and takes minutes with the Collinite). The Collinite wax definitely lasts much longer than the Meguiar types. 1 bottle will probably last you a lifetime!

After doing that, you might become a junkie for water beads off your car. You have been warned!

  • can anyone recommend any products to remove paint splatter from a car?

you mean over spray? have you tried claying it?

      • no.. friend borrowed our car, apparently the van in front of her dropped a bucket of paint and then some (like drops) splashed on the bonnet.

        • Depending on the droplet size claying might get them out. Do they chip off using with your fingernails?

          Sorry. Don't know

        • @Obake:

Claying won't take that off, your best try is to use a plastic card like a license to scrap off paint, then polish the marks off with polish

      • Best to just cut n buff it, if you clay bar it will need to be polished anyway

        • sorry, what does that mean?? haha

Does the wash need to be ph balanced, surely a cap in a bucket of water is diluted enough to be almost ph neutral seeing its 99% water now.
