Easter is 16th April
Ok
I didn't realise a spiced bun can only be eaten on 1 day of the year
a spiced bun
"Hot Cross Bun"
The also sell fruit buns without the cross, but I guess those aren't free…
jv, putting the cross in hot cross buns
Clearly you don't know the rules https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/285718. LOL
If we still use original Julian calendar, we could have Easter on 18 Feb (it miscalculated the solar calendar by 11 min a year). Obviously Bakers Delight uses this calendar
I believe that is also how they calculate their pay rates.
Also if we said "F#$% it, let's make Easter 18 Feb"
I've got Christmas Pannetonne :)
And hot cross buns should be available all year round. Your point?
Why?
No wonder they can give it for "free" when they've been underpaying their employees.
References from January 2017: Bakers Delight faces legal challenge over wages and High time exploitation and underpayment of workers stamped out.
It appears that it is almost impossible for the franchise model to work in Australia with current wages.
So go out of business.

Apt timing if you live near Wetherill Park; their store reopens on the 18th
The only reason these will be HOT Cross buns is because it's still summer!
If you support this public relations event, you support the exploitation of Australian workers, especially young Australians.
But nothing like a free something to swallow one's integrity.
What if we collect the hot cross bun while wearing a t-shirt saying "Baker's Delight exploits young workers" and post it on Instagram?
Actually that would be a good protest, all the while taking advantage of their offer.
What about a pink hat?
Make sure you get an Uber to get the free bun, that way you can support another business that under pays workers!
How does Uber underpay their workers?
How is this supporting exploitation?
I wouldn't hold my breath on being able to redeem the freebie. My previous experiences with Bakers Delight is the stores don't know anything about the promotions, our tell you that you only get it "free" if you buy something else in-store.
Exactly what happened to my wife today. She bought a cheese and bacon roll for my daughter and the free hot cross bun was nothing special.

Flavour is Apple and Cinnamon
I got mine. Toasting in progress……
Underwhelming is my review of the apple and cinnamon. Like all mutant hot cross buns are generally.
Stick with fruit and you won't go wrong.
Will we reach 60000 clicks or votes? Let's get ozbaragined guys get ready!
My local had visuals up around the store something along the lines of The great Bun giveaway day' and while there was no mention of 'FREE' anywhere, I received a bun for my son. It 'seemed' as though you needed to make a purchase to get the bun (which I was getting something anyway). Son liked the bun.
They flat out told my wife it was free with purchase.
I LIKE BIG BUNS
and you cannot lie
OP or mod please put free with purchase in the title or as a warning in the detail of the deal.

VISITOR = Someone who makes a purchase - More shadiness coming to the forefront.
My local store was just handing them out out front, with no purchase necessary.
I'm not a fan of normal Hot Cross Buns, I usually only eat the chocolate ones but I thought these ones were really good.
See above. Wife and daughter "visited" and had to buy something to get theirs. May not be consistent across stores but our family isn't the only to experience this.
It always amazes me how a company takes a promotion that's suppose to engender good feelings towards it and manages to make it an experience that means their customer is LESS likely to shop there.
I'm not saying you're wrong, just that my experience was different. I didn't even enter the store and was given one. It's possible that the head office didn't communicate clearly the nature of the promotion, or that some stores are abusing it to increase sales. But it doesn't appear to be a company-wide trend.
Perhaps a warning that some stores are requiring a purchase in the description. I'd put in a complaint if that's the case.
free buns from Apple thats what i got first read haha
Pity, I don't eat apples they give me reflux!!😞
Got it for free at the Melbourne CBD, no purchase required :)
Free at Chatswood Chase and it's good.
