Are there that many people who are passionate about opera?
Yes! We'd camp out for this, except that we're in Melb. At the same time if this was in Melb at say the State Theatre, we can just get $30 tickets. There's also an under 30-40-ish club that gets you $40 tix.
what is the normal price? I don't think it worth to queue from midnight?
Imagine how much the tickets will scalp for ….
$99 each
$60 opera house parking for a $2 show
Uber? God forbid, take a taxi…?
Err circular quay is just right over there….
Not everyone lives as close as you Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister lives in ACT.
What??? CQ is a transport exchange. You have busses, trains and ferries……. Whip out your opal and utilise these services like the rest of us
@Spooked: At least one Prime Minister loved OzB! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoAncxew5e0
or a $3 train trip.
At what hour should we start queuing? Is 8am too late?
With two locations.. wonder which venue is better..
Opera House waiting area with cover & the box office with more counters. Opera Aus Surry Hills is closer to the station & easy to get back to work (for me).
Dear all, I am in Opera Aus surry hill at 5.30am~ only 2ppl
How many is it now? Trying to plot the growth rate. ;)
around 15 now, 7.15am
Hopefully still some left. Going to opera house now.
@Classical Musician: too many people queuing now already
~50, 8.09am
10 people outside Opera house.
Edit. There's upstairs and downstairs.. Around 30 now
~40
Yup im here. Not looking good at opera house
We are at Opera Aus Surry hills, long line ard 50 too. I think Opera House box office have more counters so you might be lucky to get one in Opera House. (i reckon tix will be sold in the ratio of 60%Opera house, 40%Opera Aus,Surry Hills)
~60
Freezing outside OA surry hills, rain comes & goes. i guess opera house hv a nicer waiting area?
Its undercover
We got cover so thats good. Don't know if all of these people are buying 2 at a time. Hopefully not.
Some movement
90 people
dunno where is the line ends (as im the 2nd). Opera hse must be way better as we hv seen at least 2 crazy ppl (drugs/drunk) keep yelling/screaming to the line & wet the pants @@ #speechless
less than one hour to go~ best of luck!
They are only using 1 counter
9am, door is opened! they let us go in the box office~ we hv 3 counters here. waiting for 930am start!
3 counters! Not fair. We only have 1 here at opera house
Done, got mine (2 tickets)… what about others?
Only 2 people have gone through
they will ask ur name/address etc. quicker to give them ur driving license.
ps. i hv OA membership so they find my acc & do think quicker
Got stall V
@tlai: I got stall P :)
Well I missed out on Traviata but got tix to Tosca. Were they using 3 counters at Surry Hills? Only one guy at Opera House and he was very slow :(. I was about 40 and missed out.
So, $2 for Tosca too?
Yes. They released some $2 tix for Tosca 2 dates.
That's amazing~!!!! I saw on Opera Australia facebook people saying all the $2 now sold out (must be including the $2 for Tosca). Now they are selling $69 discounted tix.
Haha yeah, it seemed like the guy did about ten people before they announced all the tickets were gone. Surry Hills must've been moving much faster.
I would've been pissed if they didn't offer Tosca as consolation.
I have a spare ticket to Tosca on Feb 21. Excellent seats. PM if interested, and spare a thought for my 3 hours in queue!
What do you guys expect? I expect that there are very little chance, since lots will start queuing midnight.
Did the opera house do this before?
