I'm pretty sure it's just a plain grip in box. Charing grip is a seperate accessory.

    • +1

      No charging grip

just a basic grip that light up when you put the controller in

      charging grip is extra

Also note that slotting your joycons in the switch doesn't automatically charge it
they only charge when the controllers are low on battery or when docked

    • No charging grip with the console, you will need to buy the charging one separately.

    • The charging grip does not come with it. The grip with the console is just a piece of plastic to slide the joycons onto. Need to charge attached to the switch in the dock.

    • From my understanding, the grip that comes bundled with the Switch apparently is just a plastic holder for the two joy cons where as the charging grip (as the name implies) allows charging. Although I believe the non-charging grip still has the LEDs to indicate which player number the controller is assigned to.

  • I wonder what wattage the AC adapter is? Could be a great cheap USB-C charger

    • You think $39 is cheap for a USB charger?

      • A USB-C charger available in shopping centres? Yes

  • +1

Can confirm, at local target now.

Zelda's 79, 12 Switch is 59, pro controller is 89, I took a photo, I can write up the rest of their prices later when I get home.

    • Yeah i preordered the exact same items as you yesterday

I wanted to pickup the pro controller later but they said you have to get them all at the same time

    • Did you see any pricing for zelda Wii u?

      • +1

Nothing up for it, bud. Jb yesterday wanted either 79 or 89 though, I forget

    • is target selling super bomberman R?

      • Probably will at launch, but only Zelda and 12 Switch were up for order.

  • 1 2 Switch will be great, going to be a fun party game, single player, multiplayer party dealy. Alot of crazy ideas in that.

Would wait before getting other controllers, comes with 2 in the box already.

Or maybe a single joy con extra, but no need at launch.

Pro is unnecessary, just for the stubborn xbox, playstation and nintendo crowd that need to fit the nerdy crowd.

Those j c thingys are more versatile anyway. Smart consumers will stick with those.

Zelda on Switch ideal given Wii U one requires a minor install (Boo), other games didn't require that.

Hopefully Xbox and Playstation copy the Switch for their next system. Making gaming great again.

    • +4

And make Sony and Microsoft pay for it

      • Lol.

    • -3

1 2 Switch will be great, going to be a fun party game, single player, multiplayer party dealy. Alot of crazy ideas in that.

lol it'll be fun for an hour or 2 at most. They are a bunch of mini games with no over-arching gameplay or depth.
I tried "Milk" and "Ball Count" at RTX and they were mediocre at best.

The best thing I can say about 1 2 Switch is older people who aren't gamers will have fun with it, like Wii Sports. I'd imagine that's exactly what they are going for.
But gamers will get bored quickly.

      • -1

Nah people go back and play these games, alot of people liked Wii Sports and continued to play it, this has alot more variety too. You played a couple of games and made your mind up with pre conceived notions. Like the whole nobody played the Wii which fanboys love to claim… Minigame series always have replay value.

Internet nerds just create these narratives to make hardcore fanboy gamers ( a small group that believe they're the majority when they're not) mostly xbox, sony fanboys, some insecure nintendo ones, to make themselves feel better about their favorite video game system or childrens hobby. They hate being reminded games are for kids, or that regular gaming fans could enjoy things outside of shooting games, open world or EA, Ubisoft, Sony titles.. All of which are also ironically very casual. Lol. Its funny how adults playing games is only a bad thing to gamers when its a Nintendo system.

Mostly because angry gamers skip through their games quick, playing the same games, with the same vanilla control setups, they cant fathom something that would be created for replay, fun or for creative purposes. God forbid any actual variety. Or single, local multiplayer in this day and age. Most hardcore gamers arent very imaginitive and complain but play the same vanilla games and still cry.

          Cheers for the neg.
Notice I didn't neg you, despite the differing opinion? Says a lot here.

Anyway, nice paragraph(s). Lots of quite childish and unnecessary name calling.
I am not going to bother replying to your points cause it's clear I'll just get called a fanboy, ironically.

        • -1

          @theguyrules:

I wasn't name calling, i think you misread. Just pointing out the fanboy attitudes in gaming, explaining the attitudes. You took that as a personal comment, which it wasn't. Relax guy, video games are not that important at all. I was just talking about the subculture and negative attitudes on the internet in gaming in the modern era, i guess people are not used to hearing that.

Video games are not important, just play what you like.

        • -1

          @BNN:
          Haha alright buddy.

        • @theguyrules:

Its all good! This year will be good for gaming, Switch, Xbox, Playstation, Horizon Zero Dawn. There will be more to play.

        • +2

@BNN: Yeah I am keen to see what else gets put out on the Switch. And Horizon Zero Dawn, for sure.

    • "Those j c thingys are more versatile anyway. Smart consumers will stick with those."

They're also substantially more expensive, particularly if you add $35 for a charging grip given the console can only charge the one pair at a time. Comes out to around $135 vs the $90 for the Pro. If you prefer the sort of titles that'll use a traditional controller I don't see why sticking to one is an issue.

      • +1

The 20 hour battery life of the controllers kind of negates all of these issues.

        • Not really. I've gone to grab Wii Remotes in the past and had multiple devices that had no battery.

Even then you're still spending more getting the Joycons and a non charging grip, assuming you want to use them in a grip.

        • +1

If you're at home and you've finished gaming, all you have to do is slide the joycons back into the switch. It should be its default state.

        • +1

@ajee123: maybe for the first pair. Our second, third or fourth controllers end up in drawers until needed and in the past I've found these controllers to drain over time. I'm sure the Switch batteries will drain their charge too gradually.

Anyway I agree the JoyCons more versatile, but I don't agree with the statement that the Pro is for the "stubborn" "nerd crowd". It's a cheaper controller still and some people might find the ergonomics better too (not everyone has loved the joycons button size or the very vertical alignment of the buttons and joystick). I think it's perfectly reasonable to buy one, particularly when people will have a JoyCon that came with the system already.

        • yeah i agree. All personal preference really

        • Also, D-Pad.

        • +1

          @Weshy:

I hear that, and thats probably one of the better arguments, but you get used to using a thumbstick in the place of a dpad for the most part, we all did with PS1. But i would say its not as big of a deal as people think it will be. The "Dpad" replacement is a smooth version of the N64 directional pad on the side of the controller. I can kind of see why they removed it given the design… Though people feel the new one works well.

Another note would be that there were stories and pictures of Jcs with an actual directional pad, which will probably come out later.

I still wouldn't fork out the dough for the Pro controller, i did with the Wii U one and regretted it, didn't really use it that much. Didn't even have rumble. Plus not being able to switch it up and attach to the system makes it less versatile plus the hd rumble motion wont work the same way the games were intended.

      • You dont need the grip though, thats additional. Additional Joy Con is basically 1 additional controller.

Thing is, the JC controllers last for many hours, i doubt people will need to recharge it so frequently during use, plus when its down not in use, it recharges when you "switch" the other joy cons around on the dock right? You can just move them around like other charger kits. Im sure another cheap charge accessory will come out though from another company.

This isn't a charging disaster like the Wii U or the PS4, Wii U gamepad wouldnt let you turn off the screen for alot of games, most kept the cable plugged in alot after 4 hours, though it was surprisingly comfortable to use even when the cord was plugged in, except it could have been a meter or so more. Others bought Wii U chargers similar to those power banks.

Seems they want people to use them separate based on some of the games made like the Wii.

    • +1

Hopefully Xbox and Playstation copy the Switch for their next system. Making gaming great again.

It's more likely that Xbox drains the swamp and Playstation builds the wall.

    • -1

I don't want Playstation to copy Nintendo systems. I bought into Nintendo's "innovation" buying a Wii U for parties and some single player use and probably used it a maximum of 16-30 hours in a year, I virtually never used it apart from a few party/gatherings til everyone got bored of it (mid 20s mixed group). There's only so many Mario Kart 8 and Sm4sh rounds you can play before you start asking is there anything else available of the same quality. I never found anything else good for 4 or more players vs what the PC offers before Nintendo dropped the mic after word of their new system to replace it and that's really where they lost my respect.

I have a ps4 now and I'm currently going through all the classics I missed (PC guy mainly even though I did love the original wii). I highly doubt I'll have any interest in Switch and really hope Sony don't try to pull that. Granted I do miss mario kart 8 it's almost perfectly emulated on pc now and it's moving along in leaps and bounds.

      • There were other games on the system, sounds like you didn't really check out the catalogue or maybe just wanted the popular platform and gave into peer pressure? sounds like your friends pressured you a bit.

Their systems are generally showered with praise once they become retro, which is sad the angry gamer audience never appreciates them in the moment. I can see the Wii U getting alot more attention in maybe 5-6 years… More polished games to be honest for the most part, made for fun. If it sold better and got less hate more people would see it for what it is. Like most Nintendo systems in the angry fan era of gaming, dont really get much credit, though when Microsoft, Playstation copy them they end up getting it. Lol.

They had alot of creative games at retail, some decent multi-platform, plus alot of digital eshop games too, some of which exclusive and they're still making more.
Pc gamers trying out consoles is usually a mixed bad in terms of reception, and dont like spending much at all. Piracy is a big issue and games not working due to lack of optimization is a disaster at times. Sadly consoles (minus Nintendo mostly) have taken the worst aspects of Pc this gen and made things less accessible from forced installs, mid gen updates, etc.

Ps4 going through all the "classics"… Lol.

Theres some good games there sure, but i wouldnt consider much classic on that side this gen to be honest. Maybe Horizon Zero Dawn will be, Talos Principle, along with Teraway and Gravity Rush 2.

Wii U had alot of games that got trashed that were quite good. It is what it is. Im sure if the Switch is a success, gamers will make excuses as to why it doesnt count.

        • Sorry I never saw your reply.

Nah they never pressured me, I got the Wii U cause I loved Mario Kart 8 but that alone couldn't justify me keeping at $360+ piece of hardware for 3 games (I just remembered I liked 3d world) on my income. I also disliked the OS with a passion, it was like molasses and I genuinely hated going through it.

Yeah I feel as though Wii U could have gone better if more people had given it a chance, I loved how low the power usage and heat output was. It was amazing to see it running beautiful games like mk8 and not even breaking a sweat.

There was definitely games there but I just didn't like them enough to justify the console purchase, I barely even like mario as a character and I haven't ever felt drawn to a zelda game since the one one the snes. Mk8 was just that good that I could ignore the characters and still have fun. Yoshi's wooly world was the only other game on the system aside from the one's I've mentioned that I liked, but it was only 2 player and I'd finished it at a friends house. I owned Splatoon, Bayonetta 1+2, Pikmin 3, DK Tropical Freeze, XBCX, Zelda WW, Zelda TP, Nintendoland, pokken and the other 3 I liked when I sold it but wasn't into any of them.

Classics was probably the wrong word. What I meant to say is the franchises everyone spoke highly of in the last 3 generations have mainly been ported to ps4 and I've been catching up on them. So far I've loved Uncharted 2 and 3 (aside from monotonous combat), gave up on 1 cause I disliked it, uninstalled infamous second son cause it was a combination of 2 games I was very bored by (prototype and the division). Found Heavy Rain to be hugely overrated (as a story based game fan). Gravity rush 2 seems alright I realise I have a weird taste in things though, I really enjoyed running around in the Bound game demo, even stuff like Flower I don't mind but many dismiss them as not even being games.

Ultimately I'd like the switch to succeed and have a huge library of games that are of interest to me, I'm just very wary of Nintendo now as I'm obviously not their target market and I feel like I've wasted money buying their product recently. Maybe I just miss the days were the PS1 was the only game machine in my life and the library was huge and/or my expectations were smaller.

        • @gore:

Fair enough. Yeah the PS1 was nice system. The company that made Medievil shut down not long ago sadly. Wii U had alot of independent games also, some other retail ones from other companies, they just never got as much attention due to the stigma of the system and lack of press/advertising. Fatal Frame/Project Zero was underrated, Rodea too.

        • @BNN:

I loved Medievil as a kid, I've always been a fan of darker quirkiness, it's a shame they shut down.

Fatal frame did look interesting but somewhere along the line I forgot about it, admittedly I ignored Rodea cause of the terrible scores it got.

  • Will wait for a Donkey Kong or Pokémon

    • Never been a "traditional" Pokémon on the big screen. Due to this being a hybrid it could be the first.

      • Pokemon stars had been semi-officially announced. It will just be a spruced up Sun/Moon from the sounds of it. They should have called it eclipse. I think we will get a big screen pokemon this generation though.

Yup - fingers crossed. Probably the one game that would convince me to buy one

I am softening on Nintendo, more so for my four year old. Hated seeing her playing garbage freemium fake games on a tablet so just bought her a 2ds for her upcoming birthday.

  • This is gonna be the killer machine, the next generation of gamming, it's gonna blow PlayStation, Microsoft and Apple out of the water. Watch Nintendo sales sky rocket, something ninendo has done right, it's gonna sell like a brand new iPhone.

    • It comes with a power cord

      It charges on the dock.

Expensive accessories. $34 for a power cable? $99 for 2 joycons? Nintendo actually wants $120 for it? Wow.

    • -2

I hope the switch flops so they come down to earth with their prices

      • +1

Since when do controllers/accessories drop their rrp? Can't recall any notable price decreases ever on accessories.

  • +1

1 2 Switch, Cow Milking Simulator. Nintendo knows what gamers want.

  • What is the purpose of buying the AC adaptor by itself? It comes with the console itself already.

    • If you lose or break it.

I'm actually surprised they included it instead of telling us, "you can just use the AC adapter from your Wii U". They've done that with 3DS.

    • When you want to recharge the console in handheld mode but don't want to continually plug the cable in and out of the dock.

    • Carry it in portable mode instead of removing it from the dock each time.

@OP and all others, here's the photo I took earlier today if it's of use to anything.

The quality is shit, I know, I didn't wait for it to adjust or anything, it's not for an art exhibit or anything.

Quality is fantastic, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

      • Sorry, I didn't think anyone would care a week and a bit later. I just sent the photo to a friend on Facey, used the image link there, and pasted it here. It times out after X amount of time.

I don't think there was anything new in the photo, just confirmation of the OP. :)

Price will be justified when Monster Hunter is released. No MonHun no Switch for me >:|

  • Will ebgames price match the controllers?

  • Just to clarify, Switch is available for purchase at Target Online. OP could you please update
