    Just get WinRAR, guys. It's been free for 20 years.

      WinRAR isn't free. It just doesn't lock out after the trial expires.

      7-Zip is free as it's open source.

      Alternatively you could try PeaZip or 7-Zip.

        Your neg doesn't meet the criteria. You neg because you found a different product somewhere else ??

        • +2

          Different? More like better, free and open source.

        • +2

          The product represents poor value when several free software performing the same function exists.

          THe Voting Guidelines state that 'The deal is not the cheapest available' is a valid reason for a negative value.

          @mathew42:

          The product represents poor value when several free software performing the same function exists.

          It's like comparing tires from Bridgestone vs WinRun. Same function, different products, sure the WinRun is a lot cheaper, but that's not a reason to neg a Bridgestone tyre offer.

          Also, not sure if you can find this exact product cheaper somewhere else.

          @mathew42: That's ridiculous.

        • +1

          @zapy: There can be a considerable performance difference between tires. With compression software the results should be the same. It then comes down to features which add value and in some cases simpler is better.

      Omg WinRAR…Are you posting from 2004? Do you also use MSN and LimeWire?

      7zip. That is all.

      • +4

        Haha WinRAR has been around since the mid 90's!

        Nothing like downloading LimeWire Pro through LimeWire free. Sticking it to the man!

    +1 for 7-Zip and it's FREE!!!

      pun intended???

    Not sure why one would buy this instead of using 7z

    Yup.

    Bought this myself when this went on sales ages ago.

    I have to work with Windows Phone (to test multi-platform app), and I have an Xbox. This app, being a UWP, works on all platforms.

    I predict there will be 9zip.

  • Supposedly there's a free ad-supported version of 8-zip.
