I bought the Y6 elite before Christmas. Got it unlocked for free via Vodafone.
No free unlock for me unfortunetly/not all Y6 seem to have kt
Yes, I tried on Australia Day and retried just before. I got asked if I purchased the phone from Vodafone. I clicked "Yes" and was told that the the unlocking fee was $50. I clicked "No", and was told that only Vodafone-bought phones can be unlocked by Vodafone.

Yeah vodafone is free, tell them ur going overseas n need 2 put a new sim card in the phone. They will tell u they have international roaming but I just told them it's too expensive and they unlocked my phone.
Have you tried the Vodafone self service? https://unlock.vodafone.com.au/voila/handsetunlock/self-serv… I've had people tell me that Vodafone unlocks for free, though I can't confirm it yet lol.
