Trip to Seoul, First Time Traveller, Got Few Questions

Hi guys,

First trip overseas here, need some advises,

  • is there any current airbnb code? I cannot find any
  • I will fly through/transit in singapore, probably need to get couple of dental filling, is it cheaper to do it in Singapore or Seoul?
  • I also considering get a polarize and prescription sunglasses overseas, should I get it in Singapore or Seoul?
  • is there any macbook deals at the moment that's under $1k? for TRS purpose
  • I will just bring my mobile phone overseas for wifi/internet surfing, I suppose I just need to bring usb cable for charging?
  • I remember there is 20 bucks vouchers for traveler at singapore airport or something? can't remember what it's call..
  • any place that you recommend must visit? any food should try?
  • best method of travelling? I assume by train? do they have all-day travel ticket like we do here? is it expensive?
  • I will be there for 10 days, no need for visa correct?

any suggestion is appreciated!

    Only the last 2:

Train or bus. Seoul transport uses T-money which happens to also work on Jeju.
No visa required ahead of time

Well as for food there are all the Korean dishes here and then some. My favourite was jeonbokjuk, abalone congee.

    • Ok.Thanks. so it's like opal card (which I hate) and can be used on both bus and train.

      • There is a day pass I think but I didn't feel it worthwhile. Seoul is large and densely populated so it pays to plan your itinerary for the day as it can take the best part of an hour even with the metro to get from the northern areas to the south.

I got my prescription glasses in Seoul for $70 and done in 2 hours. I would hazard a guess that Singapore would be heaps more expensive, but don't know for sure.

    • Free eye test right? If not. How much did you pay for the test?

      • I don't think I had an eye test but think that it's free if you buy with them. They used my old glasses to find out the prescription as I was happy with the existing pair but it was falling apart.

  • "I also considering get a polarize and prescription sunglasses overseas, should I get it in Singapore or Seoul?"
would it be cheaper here with claiming private medical benefit ie bupa etc?

    • I got my prescription sunnies from Goggles4u for under AUD140 including delivery. I use my private health insurance for disposable contacts since the claim limit gets renewed each year

    Yes.

Download KakaoMetro. It's your lifesaver. It's cheap to get around Seoul, approx 1250 Won ($1.50-1.75) per trip. Get a T-Money from G25, 7/11 or any other convenient store, Just say "T-Money" - 3,000 Won. Taxis are also cheap but more worthwhile if you have more than 1 person.
