35k is a low budget?
Guys, 35k is an extremely low budget compared to an 80k car for a Westpac Financial Analyst….
So meta
35k definitely not a low budget for a second hand or display car.
They said $35000 not $3500.
Yo niggard you must be missing a zero. For 35 000 you can buy both those cars new mah niggard mah niggard
What are you after?
Hatch? Sedan? 4WD? Wagon? Ute?
2 doors? 4 doors?
Turbo? Naturally aspirated?
4 cylinder? 6 cylinder? 8 cylinder?
Petrol? Deisel? LPG?
There's 4 billion models of car, mate. Help narrow it down :)
I am after 4 doors, 4-6 cylinder, petrol. 4 WD, hatch, Sedan. Thanks
Mitsubishi Lancer 20-25k brand new
Mitsubishi ASX 26k brand new…20-21k Demo
there's tons of options out there. Fire up car sales, put in your requirements, click new/demo and enjoy.
Any tips before start the transaction? Previous history of the car…etc its my first time thats why I am asking. Thanks
@ylangylang55: If you buy a dealer demo (not 2nd hand or used dealer) then you pretty much get the manufacturer's warranty etc.
Mitsubishi dealers are known to pre-register vehicles to meet their quota, which then becomes dealer demo.
Look for lowest kms done.
Look for when registered. The closest registration date to your purchase date = lesser rego/warranty you lose.
Negotiate on the price. Find out what other dealers are offering for same year same model of car. Car sales is a good place to hunt for that data. Look for how much it costs brand new, go to the car's website for that. Negotiate based on that.
Negotiate to throw in original mats and maybe even tinting.
For example, I purchased a 2016 Lancer GSR Sedan Manual (because I hate the new CVT Autos) for my Mrs in December last year. Car was registered on the 30th of Nov. Brand new GSR Sedan manual is 24K. I paid 20K including tint, factory mats and full tank of fuel. It had 7 kms done, car still had all the plastic wraps when we went to see it. A ES model manual sedan would have cost me around 16 grand.
She drives 100kms every day to and fro, and its the perfect cheap A to B car with enough modern features.
What do you want to do with the car? Just A to B? Need luggage space? Have children and need spacious back seat? Go camping/4wdriving? Would you ever tow?
Buy dealer demo instead of brand new, you will always save money. Then all problem with the car till the warranty period is the manufacturer's problem as long as you do the logbook service.
Still doesn't quite narrow it down.
Holden Calais? Hyundai i30 Active X? Toyota Hilux?
I might look up for Audi,
@ylangylang55: $35k is definitely low if you want a nicer European car. Sure, you could get an A1/A3/BMW 1 series or 3 series with low powered engines but is it worth it? Slow POS that feels nice and doesn't feel so nice anymore when you don't have enough power to get off the lights quickly.
You might wanna put that in the description……..
My only tip if you get a demo from a dealer is to choose agreed value comprehensive insurance or choose an insurer that will still consider a demo as a new car for their new for new feature (if you happen to write it off in the first two years).
Suncorp agreed to for ours :)
Hard to give you recommendations when we have no idea what you'll be using the car for.
Provide us with some details if you want meaningful recommendations. For example,
1) What's the purpose of the car? Adventures? Daily commute to work? Weekend? Touring? This will allow us to give you a good recommendation for the type of car you want. For example, there's no point recommending a 2 door roadster if your aim is to go on off-road adventures.
2) Do you have a family/kids? If you're single and only really ever want to take yourself and/or a few mates occasionally, your preference would be different to if you had 3 kids and wanted to get in and out of your car easily.
3) What's important to you? Fuel economy? Power? Responsiveness/fun? Street cred?
All of these things matter, otherwise, you'd get generic recommendations like a Toyota Camry, Subaru Liberty or Mazda 6, all of which are around your price range for a demo and are all good, reliable and practical cars. If you're just after an every day car that works for everything, is comfortable to drive and is just downright function over form, any of these family sedans will do.
Thank a heap for your time. I really do appreciate it.
Then you should be looking for a family sedan. Something like a Toyota Camry, Subaru Liberty, Mazda 6, Honda Accord are all good options. Of the bunch, the Camry is really good value and you can get one brand new for around $26k drive away. All these cars are reasonably efficient, spacious, good for the kids and practical enough to take to work.
You might also want to consider a small SUV - something like a Toyota RAV4 works pretty well, I've also heard good things about the Honda HR-V. I'm not a fan of SUVs, I generally think they're obnoxious on the road, but these smaller ones are fine. They're comfortable to drive and offer better ride quality and more space for the kids.
Look at a new Toyota Camry.
Great car for the family, nice car all over.
I suggest you purchase RAV4 Toyota.
Its good & reliable 35K may get a new one.
Any other alternative Option?
https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Audi-A3-2016/SSEā¦ —> any recommend please?
NO?
If you don't know anything about buying cars do not start looking at private sales. It could have been damaged and repaired and you have no comeback etc.
Plus the A360 is too small for the family.
No way
Firstly read the description in the ad - selling because it's a bit too small for their family. It's going to be a bit too small for yours too!
A3 really isn't that special, I test drove it about a year back and there isn't a world of difference between it and a higher spec golf. Kind of like buying a Merc A class, it's got the badge but doesn't have the wow factor of the actual luxury models they sell.
As those above have mentioned, Camry / Mazda 6 for sedans, or RAV4 / CX5 for small-medium sized SUV and you can't go wrong.
Thanks for your review. I narrow down my search now to 6 car seats, power engine and save fuel.
4cyl 1.4L Turbo Petrol . not enough power.
You need get over 2L.
Some European car service cost a fortune.
I really do appreciate. Now I should looking for alternative Rav4
4cyl 1.4L Turbo Petrol . not enough power.
You need get over 2L.
Spoken like someone who knows nothing about modern cars.
Camry not bad too.Or Corolla.
My dad uses Camry so i just do not want buy other Camry again.
Myself I had drive few RAV4 .Recently I had a 2013 GLX 2 wheel drive 2 L. This car made in Japan and reliable .
35K you can get a brand new one . ( you can do research before get one ). Cheer
No worries. Thank a heap
Good luck & good night.
Try a Kia Sportage SLI awd diesel I have the latest series and a real nice vehicle. Pulls like a train, and was a great replacement for my Ford Territory TX,apart from the smaller luggage space!. You might obtain a demo unit for your intended budget. The 7yr warranty is a great thing for peace of mind.
Any Japan brand ? Sorry I have so limit for car knowledge
Subaru Forester. Mid size SUV, 4WD, Good fuel economy and pretty reliable car..
Take a look at this site:http://www.productreview.com.au/c/4wd-awd/m/toyota.html
On Carsales.com.au there are more than a few 4 door 2015 Toyota Corollas with less than 40,000km for around $15-17k
2016 models with ~15,000km from $19k (plus stamp duty, transfer fees)
If you want a solid car that feels new, is reliable and has good fuel economy, I'd take a serous look.
Given that this is Ozbargain, I have to ask: Why spend $15-20k more on a rapidly depreciating asset?
Instead of RAV4 look at a Renault Koleos you'll get a demo for the price you want.
( I have both, the Renault is much nicer and they are similar price)
I would suggest you to look into servicing cost for European cars. Whilst is nice to be seen in what appears to be an expensive car, if you really can't afford repairs it can be a nightmare.
I would not buy a European car in Australia. The availability of parts is just not the same as the Japanese / Korean brands. Quality wise Japanese cars are just as good if not better than Europeans in many sectors of the market, like the small an mid sedans and definitely the suvs. Sometimes you pay more just for the brand…
If you don't like camrys I will recommend Mazda6 in my view the nicest looking car in the segment. Excellent performance and fuel efficiency.
you right
For such a low budget, get something Japanese Something that is plain and simple like a Camry or Corolla. You'd be looking at old models though for that price range.
