[Unobtainable] 2x McChicken, 2x Chicken N Mayo, 10pc Chicken Mcbites, 4 Small Fries + 4 Bottled Water $10 @ McDonald's [N Perth]

Moved to Forum: Original Link

The deal is called a Chicken Dinner and I'm not sure if this is available nationwide.

Can grab soft drinks instead of water but bottled water is usually more expensive and was free in this case so I selected bottled water for all my drinks.

If you add all these small meals separately the price comes to around $30, so this is essentially 66.666667% off.

FAQ

Q. Can you please let us know which store and if there's any conditions e.g. only available after 5pm etc…?
A. North Perth and I ordered this at 1am, so I don't think there are any conditions as dinner deals usually end at 12am.

Q. Op do you have the receipt so we can price match?
A. No, sorry. I threw it away.

Well spotted! That is a surprisingly good deal. National availability would be even more surprising.

    Chicken mcburger half price!
I don't think this is legal in NSW.

  • This looks similar to a $20 deal I seen recently in SA, may be pricing error? Can check tomorrow, though is the same from memory.

Also, I believe bottled water = large drink?

    • Can't be a pricing error as there were another 1 or 2 similar types of meal for the same price.

    • +32

No where does it say family meal. It just says Chicken Dinner Box. So yes, I will have the whole meal to myself, thank you!

Ps. Don't look at the picture I uploaded ;) I swear it doesn't say family!

Can grab soft drinks instead of water but bottled water is usually more expensive and was free in this case so I selected bottled water for all my drinks.

I don't understand this logic … probably works along the same lines as ordering a big-mac meal with a diet coke

    • +9

No. He wants the most value for his money so he's going to order the most expensive beverages, kind of like if he was a t Subway and it was a bogod offer he'd order two premium subs to get the most value or if there was a PS4 bundle with a choice of a game from a selection, he'd choose the most expensive one as opposed to the one he may like the most.

      • +9

I think I need to go to bed, had to read the comment twice to realize you weren't talking about subway having a ps4 bundle on offer.

      • +2

No. He wants the most value for his money

I understood that, but there's poor judgement here (except for the water-is-healthier argument).

It's not getting the 'most value'. Just because McDonalds charges $5 for a bottle of water, doesn't make it any more valuable than the $0.30 bottled water from a supermarket or $0.00005c water out of the tap. There might be some logic to this argument if you could sell the bottled water for cash, but that's pretty unlikely.

It's like the a nightclub charging $10 for the same coke that Subway sells for $2 with unlimited refills.

    • +2

Diet coke has almost no sugar. Of course it's the better option

i dont drink any sorts of 'soft drink' thats for sure…. ;)

        • +2

@franco cozzo: You sound fun. Have a nice evening

        • +2

@franco cozzo: wtf is 9.4% bmi?

        • @Xastros: Body Mass Index (BMI) is a calculation used to estimate your total amount of body fat and determine which category you fall into: underweight, healthy weight, overweight or obese. Your BMI is calculated by dividing your body weight in kilograms by your height in metres squared (m2).

        • +3

@franco cozzo: Mine is 210%. Not sure if I have the calculation correct.

        • @Gershom: actually my scales refer to body fat %…
but 210% sounds about right :P

        • @franco cozzo: Haha sorry I was just being an annoying smart @rse. I knew you meant bodyfat % as BMI of 9.4 is not humanly possible and is also not a percentage measure.

        • Show me a collection of studies that proves, beyond reasonable doubt, that 'diet' soft drinks have adverse health effects.

        • -1

          @tomkun01:

A 10-year study of over 65s has found a "striking" relationship between daily consumption of diet soft drinks and the size of your waistline.

Daily drinkers gained 8 centimetres of belly fat, compared to 2 centimetres for non-drinkers and 4.6 centimetres for occasional users, over the total study period. The impact was most severe on those who were already overweight or obese.

Presenting their findings in the 2015 Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, the authors found that even when their body mass index (BMI) remained stable, daily drinkers of diet soda experienced "dramatically greater" waist circumference.

        • @franco cozzo: "The impact was most severe on those who were already overweight or obese."
So there's some fatties, who probably overconsumed carbs, who happened to drink diet soft drink. But diet soft drink has no carbs. If they instead had tested the consumption of high carb foods, I wonder what would happen?

        • +2

[@franco cozzo](/comment/4420286/redirect think your on the wrong site ?? Can we get back to the deal at hand or at least get back to belittling some one or something?

        • @tomkun01: Soft drinks, diet or otherwise, have adverse health effects. If you drink soft drinks when you're thirsty… your body is telling you it needs water and you chuck in not-water. Sugars or artificial sweeteners, either way there's your adverse health effect. If there's caffeine content, it's even the opposite of what your body was asking for. Defend these human-poisons all you want, it's your life. But like… just don't encourage children to drink them regularly or whatever. Diabetes sucks.

        • @buttstuff: wow, a lot of claims that you'll have trouble backing up there. btw, diabetes can be caused by over-consumption of carbs. sugar is one type of carb.

        • @franco cozzo: Do we really need to start explaining causation vs correlation, and confounding variables here?

Definitely not available in NSW as Chicken n Mayos are discontinued here

Definitely not available in NSW as Chicken n Mayos are discontinued here
          Best thing they ever did.

I loved the Chicken & Mayo burger. This, and the original Loose Change Menu turned me into a regular customer after not going there for ages.

Now that that menus no longer decent, I don't have a reason to go to McDonald's.

Bad for them, good for me.

        • @Spooked: Hungry Jacks is the cheapest now

        • @Fobsessive:

Thanks :) If only they had more stores!

        • @Spooked: One could say the same about our love, but you threw us aside just like mcdonalds did the chicken & mayo.

    • Same as vic

      • Damn. Didn't realize Victoria also discontinued the chicken and mayo burgers. Been a while since I went to get one though so that may be a reason why. 😄

        • You can get chicken and cheese though. So maybe a chicken and cheese without the cheese :P

        • @jaybot:

And have to pay 50c for a bit of lettuce.

    • Can you confirm that NSW sells Chicken n Cheese burgers? As my order seemed to come with Chicken n Cheese rather than Chicken n Mayo.

    • Ditto Tasmania.

I thought they were discontinued everywhere.

Only do Chicken n Cheeses now.

      • +3

What a friend we have in Cheeses.

    • What is Chicken n Mayo compared to a McChicken?

      • +2

        What's a mob to a king?

      • It's like a smaller version of the McChicken - crumbed chicken, lettuce and mayo.

        • +2

          Basically.

Has a reg bun (cheeseburger) instead of quarter bun (quarter pounder/mcchicken).

I can't remember the exact measurements, but has smaller amount of mayo and lettuce (due to the smaller bun).

Also has a piece of chicken called "LCM" or "Thigh". which is smaller and round compared to a piece of McChicken.

During Loose Change Menu it was $2 and a McChicken by itself is probably $4-5.

So you'd be better off getting 2 of these instead of one McChicken.

Chicken'n'Cheese also use a reg bun, same amount of mayo as the mayo but have half a piece of cheese instead of lettuce. They also have a piece of McChicken in them. I can't remember if they used to have LCM/Thigh in them (I've been at maccas for 7.5 years, forgive me).

Any other questions feel free to ask.

        • @SnowDragon: Sorry just to clarify, the Chicken and Cheese has the large McChicken pattie rather than the LCM/Thigh?

        • +1

          @Xastros:

          It does, yes.

        • @SnowDragon: OK Thanks.

    No chicken-flavoured water? No deal!

Could you post a pic of the ordered meal and the happy family which ordered it?

  • +2

    This was the chicken dinner box I'm pretty sure;

However it used to be priced at $19.95. Considering McChickens are usually $5.45ish each, this is a great deal of not a pricing error

Please please please let this be a nationwide deal….'my family' would get it today if it is

No true ozbargainer would visit Switzerland. Not a single reasonably priced item to be found in the entire country.

      • +4

        Roger that.

      • +2

there is only one exception for an ozbargainer being in Switzerland.. when expenses are paid for by work!
