I also managed to nab one of the remaining W1110's. There couldn't have been many left in stock because I'd check the website every day for a couple of months before finally spotting this on that day.

Bought it the instant it loaded.

I believe it comes with two years BenQ warranty.

    • +1

Yes, the website shows 2 year warranty for w1110.

I was also checking the site everyday as well. Bought it immediately when it was available.

  • Any idea whether as part of the refurbish they replace the lamp bulb with a new one?

    • Mine shows lamp hours is 0 when I tested it last night

      • Isnt that resettable yourself?

        • +1

          yes

      • How is the image quality? I haven't received mine yet, so i'm curious about the brightness and general condition of the unit.

        • I only tested it on a cream coloured wall. But the image is good as far as I can tell. Probably gonna be great when used with a proper screen.

  • What's there best model for a blacked out room?

    • +1

basically anything to be honest, if you're got a nice dark room then anything that does the resolution you want will be fine - it's when you want to project in broad daylight or outside that you really need something with massive lumens~! :)

  • I've been wanting a projector for a large classroom/seminar type environment. Darkened but not black room.
    Mostly showing video and powerpoints.
Can anyone recommend a good option from this deal?
    Kinda looking at this one:

any one should be fine. BenQ makes good displays

  • I'm getting a security issue when I try to pay - using either paypal or their checkout.
    Anyone else?

    • +2

Chrome indicates that the website is not secure. Having said that, I managed to order one using PayPal and it worked fine.

  • The W1080 used to be below $1000 new on eBay

    • +1

I got my W1080 a couple of years ago when Officeworks were getting rid of them. It's the best projector I have had as far as reliability is concerned. A good display too for the price, but if anyone has suffered through the highs and lows of projector ownership, a good display rather than great is worth it if reliable.

      • +1

yea I regret not going for one of them when they were around $800 new on clearance

  • +1

luv the benq projectors, i paid a bit more and grabbed a new w2000 model (different supplier), best thing ive done all year!! incredible picture.

    • How much did you pay?

  • Most of them are now out of stock

  • Can anyone recommend where to buy a screen for this ?

    • http://www.graysonline.com/search.aspx?q=projector+screen I have one of the electirc one's and it is great and very cheap.

      http://www.stretch-projector-screens.com.au/shop/stretch/str…

i bought one of these (from ebay from another store, but similar product - just search ebay)

i put some screws into the fence in the right spots and just stretch the screen onto the screws whenever we want to do movie/tv night outside, i have a permanent ceiling mount (just screw the projector in - 3 screws each time) and the HDMI & power cords are permanently sitting there in the ceiling, so the projector + screen dont get dirty and screwed up from the weather, but it's a ~5min setup/teardown for outdoor cinema.

    • Keep an eye out on gumtree as well, because many people downsize and offload $1000+ screens for chips. The only downside is that you would need to transport it yourself.

    • You probably already know this, but you don't actually need a screen.

10+ years ago it made a significant difference, because projectors weren't as bright.

Nowadays it's fine to not have one, if the room it's in looks nicer with a blank white-ish wall than with a big screen.

  • Guys, not knowing anything about projectors - are they suitable to watch TV on?

    • +3

Yeah they are fine for TV shows. They don't have a TV tuner built in though so you will need to buy a digital TV receiver or a PVR to be able to hook up to it

  • Dang. - been watching the benq site for months waiting for a refurb/damaged box 1090, pulled the trigger a month ago on a new one.

    • How is w1090? I can't find a review on projectorcentral.com

      • +2

Im more than happy with it. Im susceptible to RBE, and although it has a 6 colour wheel, i can still see it ocassionally, but really only if its meturning my head and looking for it. Theres heaps of reviews around on other sites, not sure why PC doesnt have it?
3D is great too as far as steroscopic goes.
It was the model that replaced the w1070.

  • Did anyone post the W1110 on OzB?

    • +2

I was supposed to post here it but it was already out of stock after buying it. Better check the refurb site everyday to see if anything will be available. Good thing I waited and did not buy the th681 when someone posted it here for $599.

      • How much was the W1110 refurbished?

        • $699 +$15 shipping.

  • +1

Would be a good candidate for a dual projector passive 3D system as the cost is still good for 2 of them.

    • Is there any advantage to that over simply using the excellent 3D mode these already have?

      • I don't know how much the DLP active 3D has advanced since I checked one many years ago but if they still have the inherent problems of active 3D such as flicker, ghosting, eye strain etc (also battery operated glasses), a passive system using Omega 3D system would be definitely better. Unfortunately people chose active 3D or 3D TVs over dual projector passive systems as the former is more fiddly and geared towards enthusiasts and costly as well. Passive systems with polarised filters require silver screens and ghosting is still a problem. I might be one of the few people in Australia using the omega 3D system as they couldn't advertise it efficiently and it never took off. It's essentially Dolby 3D without the need for colour correction. I recommend it if you have a "pair off" dlp projectors.

Best way to know of new stock is to set up a Web page change notification.

    I use https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/visualping/pemhgkl…
