Sony MDR-1000X over-Ear Wireless Noise Cancelling for $559.96 @ JB Hi-Fi

111

Great review across all major Headphone review websites, many of them even earned a full 5 star rating.

Great purchase price as well (20% off RRP), also additional 10% off if you purchased the Ultimate Kids Gift Card from Coles at the end of 2016.

Edit: Unfortunately the links for the headphone isn't available on JB Hi-Fi's website, but they are available in stores.

  • Amazing price. Too bad I already pulled the trigger on the qc35, would of much rather this instead.

Is there any particular reason to pick these over Bose QC35?

The sound quality is slightly better. The NC is pretty much the same from reports.
Whether the slight Sound Quality improvement is worth the extra 160-200 bucks is up to you.

This was initially listed as $399, which is a great price as the qc35 frequently go to that price. Not such a great deal at $560

    It's h.ear Over-Ear Wireless(100ABN).
    Not 1000X

  • +1

    Those are not MDR-1000X.

    This is.

Price seemed a bit low for 1000X.

  • This isn't the MDR-1000X, its the MDR-100ABNB

  • Price isn't the best around for the 1000x. Cheaper elsewhere (though can't link as ozbargain doesn't allow associated links in comments)

My MDR-1000X's are STILL on back order since ordering from JB for $497.95 shipped November last year. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/273914

    • I'd chase that one up! They're freely available now…they should have fulfilled that order by now I would expect.

      Then again, it is jb…

      • If they were readily available wouldn't they be for sale online? This an email from a week ago:

"We haven’t received any stock from Sony since before these headphones went on sale. Sony originally promised us that they would be providing us with an order which would arrive in Mid-January but they advised me a couple of days ago that they can’t ship them out until the end of February at the earliest. You are one of 10 orders I currently have in my system for these particular headphones and the order we have in from Sony will cover all of the existing customers we have in the system.

Once the order from Sony finally arrives we will have enough stock to supply all of the orders we received during the November period when the headphones were on sale"

  • I think JB HI-Fi will always be the most expensive option for headphones. Even with their "sales" I got a pair of sony MDR 1a's for $280 on ebay. Jb's where asking $400…

  • For people travelling to Japan, buy it here…

    • Unless you want warranty.

Currently, the cheapest option for this is buying from amazon.co.uk which comes down to 289.07 GBP shipped for me (or 497.91 AUD using Amazon's currency conversion rate).

    • Shows as 329GBP for me.

      • +2

        VAT is removed on checkout.

        • Ah yep, my apologies.

    • Just wait for a sale. They will happen because Sony is not Bose. It's had a $50 USD temporary price cut at Amazon US before and hasn't been out for long.

Put it on camelx3. Eventually you'll find it for 50% off.

    • I just bought yesterday aud$478 with 28 degrees mc

  • I received mine from Sony about two weeks ago. Ordered about mid December I think. Great cans.

A reasonable alternative to these at the moment are the Qc25 for $315 at Apollo hifi in Marrickville, Sydney.

    • Very different product. These are audiophile grade headphones that'll do some noise cancelling. Especially the 25s, they're noise cancellers that can play music in a pinch. Also wireless vs not.

Note: I've tried both before, and I can't tell the diff =P but those with good ears can.

      • It depends what you want out of headphones. And what you call audiophile grade. I use qc25 for travel and ultrasone 880 for home listening, so one for each purpose.

  • The Sony have great tech features (touch control on the headphone and auto-mute so you can disable NC instantly to chat) however for me the QC35 still have better comfort and NC ability as the Sony are heavier and clamp tighter on your ears (which I personally don't like on long haul flights)

  • if u guys are still after one, i have one brand new just brought from Jbhifi for $499 but change of mine. If you want it can pick it up from my for the same price or else i will return it for a full refund. Trying to help ozbarginers
