I was on Optus prepaid and my prepaid expired on 27/01/2017.
I saw the Coles mobile prepaid deal that offered 5GB bonus data for the first $20 recharge and decided to get that.
Once I activated Coles mobile sim and ported my number, I did not get the bonus 5GB data.
Then I called the Coles Mobile Customer care number(1300 644 741) and it directed me to Optus call center.
The person at call centre said to me that since I was in Optus network before I purchased the Coles sim, I am not eligible for 5GB bonus data.
I told her that coles mobile advertisement does not specify that the offer is not valid for customers moving from Optus to Coles Mobile.
She also said that Coles mobile is just a brand name used by Optus and everything is handled by Optus.
In my understanding it is a complete scam, Had they clearly mention that it is not applicable to customers moving from Optus to coles mobile, I would not have bought the coles sim.
I got a screenshot of the coles mobile advertisement, just in case if I need to raise it with TIO.
has anyone else had the same experience.
"New customers who activate onto Coles Prepaid and recharge $20+ by 07/02/17 will receive bonus 5GB data inclusion on their first recharge only"
they don't really define whether its new customers to coles or new customers to optus. Not a scam, just the terms and conditions are not very clear
