2GB DDR3 (1066MHz) expandable to 8GB

Full specs are given in the link below from Toshiba website.

I am just wondering if $779 is a good deal for this laptop. Looking to get it either today or tomorrow so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

  • Yeah for a toshie with an i3 processor it's very good.
you can probably get a Lenovo with 4Gb ram for a little bit less.

    • Thanks supabrudda for the quick reply. You meant the Lenovo G560 06792KM Core i3 laptop? I was looking at that too. I am in Sydney so I can pick the Lenovo up at Orange IT in the city for $725. The specs for the two are quite similar (the toshiba is i3-350M but only 2Ghz or Ram). How is Toshiba compared to Lenovo in terms of customer support and service in Australia?

  • I believe the Lenovo build quality is as good as Toshie. what's the warranty difference? (length & what you've got to do for repairs). If they're similar then go for the one with the bet bang for your buck (the Lenovo in this case).

If the wife is just doing emails, surfing the net & word/excel, the you could even get a cheaper lenovo like this ($550)

Slightly lower spec processor, but for $200 less it's really good value. MSY probably hasn't a similar deal.

    • I didnt ask the sales guy for the support services.I believe Warranty lengths for both should be the standard 12 months. I may use the laptop too mostly for finite element modelling (not gaming) so the more ram perhaps the better. I was tempted by the Lenovo before looking at the Toshiba so I think I will go for the Lenovo then. Does the Lenovo come with HDMI?

  • yes, it does. i bought two.
