    Back in my day sonny, games were hard, not like those hand-holding, vaguely interactive movie yawn fests you kids call "games" these days. I have a cupboard full of c64 and amiga games I never even came close to finishing. I'm not even "elite", damn it!

    Now get off my damn lawn.

      Oh man, Platoon on the C64. Just getting to the third level was an achievement. No continues, ammo was very sparse, and I can't even remember if there were health refills.

        so I'm not the only one? I used to be able to get up to the tunnel level without losing any life then at the end it gave no clue on what to do and I'd die right there!

        Ive got a vague feeling Platoon was one of the rare games I actually finished…. I dont recall the details though. I remember it being damn hard though.

        Never had an issue with games being hard, but it does need to be doable. There's a fine line sometimes and I'm pretty sure Platoon crossed it (I am actually tempted to see if my c64 still works and if so, give it another go). Tuning it in is kind of putting me off though…

  Had a go on Dosbox when this was first announced on Ozbargain. Didn't seem like a terribly polished or intuitive game but then I was never able to get too far into Roller Coaster Tycoon either.
  Only Theme Park and Theme Hospital seemed to have tutorial modes that gave you a learning curve rather than throwing you in the deep end.
