Where Is The Best Place to Buy a Car (Preferably Sedan) for Less than 5K in Sydney?

Hi Fellow mates,

I am planning to get a pre-owned Sedan/hatchback. My budget is as less as $5K. Can you shed some lights on the best dealers around?

What are the things I need to keep in mind while buying a pre-owned car?
Can I expect one-year warranty and insurance be a part of it?
Will there be any discount period during the month of February?

Cheers,
Sowny

Don't buy a dealer car for that budget. Buy it from Gumtree

Get it inspected by a mechanic if you don't know

    Nope

    Just buy from Gumtree

    • @Spackbace - How about https://www.carsales.com.au? How do they work?

      • They're a site where you can list your car for sale. Dealers and the general public.

But you'll find more cars for sale in your budget on Gumtree than you will on Carsales

        • http://www.tonylahoodmotors.com.au/ - They have got a lot of cars around my budget with 3 years warranty. Any suggestion on this dealer?

        • @Sowny:

Warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on

And as I said, avoid the dealers at this price range. They're wholesalers… they take the trade-ins that the big yards don't want to keep. High mileage, taxis, ex-mine cars, written off cars… you name in, they'll have it.

    • Not sure about buying car from Gumtree,I rather buy it privately from Carsales :)

        There's barely any difference.
Both sites have great range of cars, and both have dodgy sellers.

Only difference is that gumtree lists free, so it usually attracts more people willing to sell quickly… which ultimately means cheaper price/better value.
However, you should do your homework nonetheless. If not for the financial, remember you're putting your life at risk every day you drive.
