  • Have united retired their old planes yet? They used to fly ancient 747s to SYD with large projector screens and no other in flight entertainment

    • +2

According to the booking sites, United is flying 787s.

      • Great. Would be one of the airlines to fly then. Either that or a QF 380

        • +1

Way better then they used to be for sure. Flew then last year and their offering is more in line with competitors then on the old 747s

      • +2

Changed planes but still "United" quality. i.e. cr*p.

    • Looks like they've switched them out for 787-9s. Linky.

      edit: oops wrong link

      • What planes do Virgin use?

        • +1

To the US they use 777-300ERs.

Lol, 37.5 hour flight to the US.
Layover at Guangzhou (Canton), China for 15h 30m.

    Junky flights lol.

      Hi Neofelis,

I think you might be looking at other flights. United and Virgin don't fly to USA via China.

    • It would be pretty hilarious if United flew via China for its trans-pacific flights

Though, they may start using SVO based on Trumps favourite people ;)

      Hi GRP,

Sorry we haven't been posting what you would like. Can you give some details on why they are rubbish?

    • +18

      Nope - just you

      • +11

Mind you, it's his first comment since joining too. A little sus?

        • Alan Joyce has a lot of time on his hands. ;)

  • Took united back to melbourne from America and had the worse service possible. There was a gas leak on the plane and so we were stranded in the airport for 24hr+. We were offered no holtel service and our compensation was to fly with them at a very small discounted price. When our replacement plane was sorted out, that service was also delayed for a few hours. Very disappointing..

  • how long will this deal last?

  • The Virgin flights are good (however there is a risk you get shifted to Delta - which is similar but it is like flying with emo's). United is better than it used to be - tho not at the level of Virgin.

  • Something-something visa waiver program

    • +1

The article had it wrong. Trump's draft plan does not scrap the Visa Waiver Program. It is the Visa Interview Waiver Program that he plans to get rid of. There's a huuuge difference between the two.

      • Yes but details no longer matter these days. Rabble rabble rabble!

      • +2

        The article had it wrong.

nope, was just stating alternative facts….

        • +1

          It's not alternative facts…
The news about the Executive Order has been interpreted incorrectly.
Trump was referring to the Visa Interview Waiver Program, which is different to the Visa Waiver Program. The text in section 9a of the draft executive order reads:

“The Secretary of State shall immediately suspend the Visa Interview Waiver Program and ensure compliance with section 222 of the INA, which requires that all individuals seeking a nonimmigrant visa, undergo an in-person interview, subject to specific statutory exceptions.”

The program in question is one where certain individuals applying for a visa renewal do not need to appear in person for interview at a US consulate/embassy. This change is being made in order to bring consistency to the visa application process.

This change does not affect the Visa Waiver Program, of which ESTA is a component.

Majority of the media is jumping the gun and not reading it right, and everyone is just recycling that information. We are safe at the moment!

    • I'm holding off booking to the U.S until the dust settles on this. Although I love going to the U.S, Trump (and many of his nutjob supporters and officials) are taking the edge off it for me.

Wow… Adelaide to LA in June, flying China Airlines is $808.

    Holy. Snapping. Duckshit.

    • That's cheap, but just check how long the layovers are and how the reputation of China Airlines is (not sure myself).

      • 2-3 hours layover in China… For me, at this price, you expect what you pay for… Aim to get an aisle seat then get a few drinks in and sleep…
        Mixed reviews.

    • Guangzhou sounds like a pretty cool city, just came across this today.

  • Are prices in AUD??

http://iwantthatflight.com.au/flight.ashx?oc=ADL&dc=LAX&dd=1… seeing $807 on a flight from Adelaide to LA for these dates??? Is this correct?

Edit; non direct flight, I see.

  • Virgin's my pick for doing the LAX run, great service

  • What's the go on skip lagging in Australia? I want to stay in Sydney for a few days while my partner flies back to Brisbane, is there a way to officially do this or will have to ditch the last leg of the flight?

  • Is this still available?
