Thoughts on the MicroBoard M340CLZ 34" WQHD 100HZ 3440x1440 AMD FREE Sync Curved Gaming Monitor

I was thinking of buying one of these screens.

Too risky?

Thoughts?

  • Reading Whirlpool thay call it a "Korean monitor", not sure if that means it's one of those operations that uses A- and less screens after after tablet makers have taken the best ones or just a regular manufacturer. This is this first VA type panel I've heard of that has 3440x1440 so from that perspective it's priced very well leading me to suspect the former.

Without seeing one or reading any reviews on paper it sounds like an amazing monitor: same size, refresh rate and resolution as Acer Predator X34 however since it uses a VA screen it will have no IPS glow, very good black and twice the contrast. Contrast is the single most important factor for image quality. I also noticed it has native 2560x1440 144Hz which the X34 doesn't have which it really should have had.

  • Yeah on paper it does seem incredibly appealing, I think this year we'll see a rise in UHD and Ultrawides.

  • Stay away from the Korean 34" ultra wides for a while.

There was an LG 34" Ultrawide 1440p freesync posted yesterday for less than $1k AUD locally. Think it was only 60hz, but the refresh rate must come secondary to overall picture quality on a monitor that size when sitting so close to it IMO.

I'd say this will be the year I'll get one, but that was supposed to be last year and I can't pay more than 800 for a computer monitor in good conscience, and that better have all the bells and whistles at that price too (~144hz, gsync, ultra quality curved IPS panel with no defects, multiple inputs, quality stand, built in speakers, USB/C hubs, ect.).

  • I bought one back in December and found it a huge improvement over the dual 1080 TN monitors I'd previously been using. I heard complaints about color accuracy, but people seem satisfied once profiles had been downloaded and settings tweaked (I couldn't notice any difference).

Native 100 hz (overclocked to 107 on mine), no backlight bleed and a high win rate in the panel lottery was enough to convince me to order a second to replace my stolen one. I assume the burglar is similarly pleased with it.

  • Thanks guys, I wonder what will happen to the price once more local dealer start dropping the prices of ultrawides and there is generally more monitors
