I don't play games, I just want a super clear high res monitor. I plug my Surface Pro 4 into it when at my desk and use it like a work station.
Spreadsheet, word documents, internet surfacing. Really nothing taxing, but I want sharp details, high res, and as big as I can get for around the $500.
Open to any other suggestions others have.
Thanks.

Here's what Tom's hardware currently considers the best monitors they've tested. They've divided the guide into standard 60hz refresh, 144Hz, Freesync and Gsync). This doesn't matter for you, they will work normally and you can ignore what section a monitor is in (but Gsync can be ignored just because of price).
Look only at 4K monitors that are as large as possible.
