Looking to buy a new TV, willing to spend around $1500. Wanting something to be good quality, 4K and 60"+. More inclined to buy better brands eg: Sony, Samsung etc

OP if you haven't already bought one in last few days, that's a pretty good price the 60" LG!
how about Changhong UD65D4000 65" UHD LED 200Hz TV $799 @ Bing Lee?
It depends on how fast you need it. If I were you, I would hold off a bit as there are new gen TV's arriving.
In my view, I would go for a TV that supports HDMI2.0a (or the next gen HDMI2.0b)HDCP 2.2 & 4K resolution @ 4:4:4 60p chroma sub-sampling, Dolby Vision (for future compatibility if you decide to go that way)
