Back to school and we're looking for reasonably sturdy pencil cases with dividers or compartments for a well organised high school student. Most shops here just seem to stock basic soft-cases-with-a-single-zipper-pouch. Except for the super fashionable, extra expensive specialist stationers. Any suggestions for Sydney or online retailers?

How about put a couple pieces of cardboard in the pencil case as dividers. My daughter (Yr.10) likes to separate her pens/pencils/highlighters, she uses rubber bands to bundle them up. (Not sure why! Too well organised?)
No Smiggles…high school students are way too old for those. And Smiggles are very expensive!

Keep looking at the Red Dollar type of stores. They sometimes have really good and sturdy ones for the organised students for under $5.
If you are willing to spend more (much more due to postage!) and can wait a while (or consider it as a special occasion purchase), do consider the Nomadic PE-08 (or PE-18) japanese pencil case. Many +ve reviews online. I got it off Rakuten a few years ago for a super organised student. Lasted high school and still used in uni, with no signs of wear. Very sturdy and super smooth zips. I highly recommend them.

Another (seasonal) option I found, was Aldi's back to school specials.

Smiggle has a good range, but maybe a bit immature and they can be costly.
Daiso has some that are cloth with 3 zipper compartments. They have 3 sizes. They are $2.80, so pretty inexpensive.
