I am hunting for some baby nappies for my DD and saw sale in baby bunting, do you think Coles/woolies will price match if I show them the price in baby bunting on my phone?
Do Coles and Woolies do price match?
Comments
Thanks, don't think they have anymore 2nds nowadays!
It has been asked on OzBargain previously, and no, Cioles does not appear to have price match. Google search also yielded this result from 4 years ago where a Coles rep said on Facebook that they don't have price match.
As of Woolworths, on their Terms and Conditions they don't even want to match their own website.
You acknowledge that:
(a) we are not required or obliged to match any prices for any Products, including matching any prices for a Product that is available through the Site at our supermarket or vice versa; …If they did you could ask them for the half price specials at Woolworths at Coles?? I don't think so.
Edit: Do they?
Be sure to let us know if it works then we can all go professional on Coolies. ;)
we can all go professional on Coolies
You want to go Professional on Coolies?
I once tried to negotiate with the Produce Manager to get a bag of apricots for $4/KG instead of $9/KG. It was not successful.
I tried to negotiate on a Voltaren clearance item. It was not successful.
Try Big W, I priced matched at Big W before if it's a brand that they are selling (I assume Huggies).
Babylove, but I think they stock it as well. But I think with Big W you can't earn woolies points anymore?
No sure about Woolies points, but you can use WISH or BigW gift cards to pay and take extra 5% off
True, but unfortunately I don't have any gift cards with them…
No chance :) There are hundreds of specials each week that they would need extra staff just to check all the price matching. The specials also seem to occur out of sequence such that chips or schweppes drinks are discounted in different weeks so they don't overlap between Coles or Woolworths. Supermarkets also discount near date and overstocked items that make no sense to match for other stores…they probably wouldn"t even price match the same chain but different store.
^ this.

If they did, you would just get Coles & Woolies to price match each other and you would never have to pay full price on any groceries again, would be a nightmare to manage given the number of small ticket items supermarkets sell.
Iga
It's a prisoner's dilemma scenario.
It makes good sense for one major retailer (eg. Woolworths) to offer price matching on Coles' catalogued items.
It means that consumers will know that they can visit Woolworths and have the best prices between Coles and Woolworths.
However as soon as this happens, Coles will likely offer matching on Woolworths' catalogued items.
Now we have both stores offering the competitors discounted items but a consumer is no better or worse visiting either a Coles or Woolworths who now receive a lower margin on competitor catalogued products.
So in reality they are both better off not to introduce price matching.
"2. Should we run out of the stock in Sydney, stock will be dispatched from our HK warehouse via express courier. NO additional fees for customer at all."
I bet they run out of stock in Sydney warehouse ALL THE TIME
this is not a direct answer, but
12+ years ago when we had babies, we were able to find 2nds at baby shops. sometimes hard to pick why 2nds, sometimes printing or short Velcro tabs etc. I can only recall not using one nappy for the 5 odd year period we needed them.
They came in big plain print boxes that we used for daytime. I can't recall the brand name, but it was one of the mainstream brands (snugglers?). We used huggies for night time.
