After New BYO Phone Plan - 5GB Data, International Calls, $30 Month

Hi people, I know this has been repeated many times but there have been many phone plans from being available to unavaliable just in this year already.

What is the cheapest phone plan currently? My phone contract will end this month and looking towards a cheaper alternative. Currently on Vodafone and don't need a new phone.

Well the cheapest way is to get an as you go prepaid and use nothing, and get everybody to call you. But I'm sure you will have some usage, which you haven't told us. How many calls, how many texts, how much data do you use per month?

    • Looking for atleast 5GB internet a month and looking to pay around less than $30 a month. International call included in a pack would be lovely.

      • wait for this plan- https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/288945
Might workout little less for monthly data usage but you can always top it up. I think it has better coverage than Vodafone as it is using Telstra network

        • Be wary of the ALDI international inclusions - I bought their 'L' plan last month and when I tried to call New Zealand I found out they exclude NZ mobile numbers. I think it does vary from country to country though

        • @bobkin: isn't it a rule to check before buying or face the consequences.

Moreover OP hasn't mentioned about the international calls. And if you look below in this thread OP is talking about Kogan mobile plans which again doesn't include any international calls, you need have an add on to make international calls.

        • @entercoolusername: Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be advertised anywhere (or even written anywhere as far as I can tell). Just something I think people should be aware of before planning to use Aldi for international calls (which the OP did mention in the title). I think it's very good value otherwise, but it didn't work out for me

          EDIT:
After some further reading, I found this link which shows which countries you can make international calls to on both landlines and mobiles. Interestingly, NZ is on this list as being able to phone mobiles. When I actually had the plan at the beginning of last month it didn't work and I phoned AldiMobile customer support and they told me the plan wasn't eligible. Perhaps they have changed it since? Good to know, as I was happy with them otherwise

      • Jeenee Mobile - $35 per month. 8GB and $300 of international calls per month plus unlimited local & national calls/SMS/MMS on Optus 4G network.

Only downside is international MMS and SMS cost you but then you can use FB messenger, Viber, Whatspp etc for that

    • Well the cheapest way is to get an as you go prepaid and use nothing, and get everybody to call you

      Seems realistic

  • Might not be cheapest, but I have friends on Vaya who are happy with it.

I'm on ALDI. Their plans are well priced and I haven't had a problem with their coverage yet.

  • Optus BYO $36 10gb cap sounds like your deal

  • Optus are doing a $40/month with 6gb data, with music streaming unmetered. On offer til 26/2.

  • I actually find a better a deal if anyone of you is keen. Kogan phones

  • 8 Gb internet per month, bring your own number, $23 a month using vodafone network.

    https://www.koganmobile.com.au/plans/mobile/

    • After relaunch with Vodafone network(in 2015) I don't think I have heard any bad reviews( well no bad reviews here), so may be give it go for a month or so then jump on a year plan, if it works out.

$28 Plan with 5GB internet and $1000 credit to call local and international.

    OR

$29 Plan with 5.5GB and unlimited Local SMS and call.
