    what is the "$2.10 Item"?

    • There isn't one, you just have to add an item that is that price or higher to get the discount.

Still don't understand why they are still not in trouble for not stating that the 4G speed is throttled to 10Mbps in anywhere of their terms.

    • Because they cite the use of 4G technology, not the maximum possible 4G speed.

      • One would reasonably expects 4G technology yields much faster speed than 10Mbps, given the perception of all the advertising we see regarding 4G. Regardless, if something is throttled I think it should be fair to be stated in the T&C. Obviously ACCC thinks otherwise, considering these guys are still operating.

    • They actually do state it… Go to the page for plan e.g. https://www.vividwireless.com.au/plans/unlimited-plan

      See

      Important to know:

Only one modem can be connected to this plan.
Our Acceptable Use Policy applies to this plan.
      All for use in Oz.
Vividwireless' LTE internet service provides up to 10mbps download and 1 mbps upload

      • Thanks, all good then. They didn't the last time I checked and I checked the 'Critical Information Summary' before posting my first comment.

        • Yeah for some reason it's not "critical" information, just listed on plan pages

Signed up to vivid last month, great service so far and fast set up. 10Mbps is what I get consistently and more like 1.5 to 2 Mbps upload.

    • i totally second that, bought in Brissy, works like a charm, 30~40% speed boost over my ADSL2+

    • I second this. I am using this now while waiting for my home line to be connected and loving it so far. Reliable and more than fast enough for what I need - i.e. watch YouTube videos over a few devices, mobile gaming, multi-player gaming on the PC, etc. In fact, I am seriously calling up Telstra and cancelling the installation request!

P.S. Great bargain! I bought the modem for $174 a couple of months back.

  • Damn, this sounds so handy as I'll be moving soon, but it's too expensive as a failover solution, which is what it would end up being in the long run, as it's just too slow for my usage levels. :)

    • same. Im moving in 2 weeks and my TPG renews in 1 day. TPG would charge me $70 for 2 weeks, and then a transfer fee of $99 and keep charging me $70/month until a tech is booked for the installation etc (average of another 3 weeks). SO i thought a discounted vivid wireless modem with 2 months free is my best option

      • I think that's clever. Not sure why you were downvoted.

  • Dunno yet on how good they are in brisbane region. so would be interesting to know the following :
as they say/state that connecting more than 2 wireless devices will bring down speed immensely. Now each home has 2 phones / ipad/ laptop / TV etc connected so am i to think this will come down to 1mb (adsl2+) speeds ?? i hope not.

    • I have 3 or 4 devices connected to it at any time and I have not noticed any performance degradation.

    • I have my own Asus router connected to this on ethernet and I can safely say no issues whatsoever but havent really used the built in Wi-Fi to be able to comment but cant be that bad

    • I've had multiple devices going off the vivid router and it's been fine, that being said it's for Netflix/Youtube etc not Age of Empires or other new fangled nonsense.

  • But if you sign up for 24 month contract you get a free modem and if you leave before 24 months is up you only pay $199 modem divided by how many months you have left (eg $199/8 months). I can't math so does it work out cheaper this way?

    • But if you buy a modem from the good guys you get a free month + referral free month (so you save $180 on the unlimited plan)
If you buy from vivid, you only get a referral free month (so you save only $90)

      • So are you saying you get 2 months free by buying this from gg?

        • +1

yes. I month free if you buy from a retailer (TGG or HN) that applies automatically and then 1 month free via a referral code on signup

        • @easternculture:
150 for modem less 180 credits.
          -30 not locked in
          Or
          0 modem less 90 credit
          -90 but locked in.

        • @dasher86:

for me its -50 as i was already planning on buying something else from TGG with the $20 store credit.

so $40 difference and not being tied to a 24 month contract works well for me

        • @dasher86:
how do you apply a referral when activating the reatil bought modem?

        • @fenrer:
          As per EC above?.

        • @dasher86:
          never mind worked it out.

  • I am using this in Fawkner which only have Telstra, its working really great with 1.3 kbps downloading and 10mbps on speedtest but uploading is around 250kbps and 1-2mbps on speedtest

    • its working really great with 1.3 kbps downloading

      ???

      • Maybe he just arrived from the early '90s in a time machine?

        • Telstra provides only 250kbps downloading speed in my area

        • @randomrandom:

Still, 1.3kbps isn't "great". unless that was sarcasm. hard to tell.

        • That was bad by early 90s standards.

A 28.8k modem is 22 times faster than this.

        • @lostn:

28.8k was only made available in 1995. From 1990-1994 It was a progression from like 2.4k to 9.6k. 1.3kbps would have been perfectly normal in the early '90s.

      • oops I meant 1.3mbps lol, I wrote kbps, as compare to Telstra it's 5x faster in Fawkner area (also cheaper)

Started a new contract in the BNE CBD yesterday. The team I am working with is using this for internet due to strict network policies of the client. About 5-7 of us on it at once. Speed was stable and good all day. So…for biz purposes I was impressed. Never heard of it till yesterday and here it is on OzB.

  • Code not working

    • make sure its in capital letters

      COMAC15

  • Can i connect this vividwireless to my router for more coverage? Any tips and ideas are appreciated. Thanks

  • Whats the max upload people are getting using this service? i want to use this for video live streaming and need about 1.5 meg up at some locations. (edit) I am in Brisbane but do travel to mackay and canberra for some events, beta.speedtest.com speed tests would be good

    • Okay… this is something that is really bugging me. I have a max upload speed of of 1 megabit. That's slow, right? That's something I can live with. BUT… when I upload things… MY DOWNLOAD SPEEDS GET CUT! I've been meaning to call them up and ask them why this does that. Say I take a bunch of photos, Google Photos automatically uploads it. Photos are about 3 MB each, sometimes it takes a good hour to upload the photos I've taken throughout the day.

While this is happening, I can't even watch Netflix or Youtube.

  • I have vivid. Very happy….. just saying

  • I just connected via vividwireless. How can i redeem the one month free and how can i claim additional one month from referring others.

Is the one month free for new customers will be applied on the 2nd month?

    Sorry too many questions. Thanks

    • you need to enter referral code while initial setup of the modem. Free month will be your first month.

    • The referrel code is entered on the page where you enter your credit card details.

  • Can the Good Guys set customers up on the 24 month plan with $0 upfront for the modem, or do they only sell the modem outright?
    Thanks
