700ml Jagermeister for $28.95 at Dan Murphy's Ascot Vale

570

I was just at Dan Murphy's Ascot Vale (Melbourne) and they had a shelf price of $28.95 a bottle for 700ml of Jagermeister.

This normally retails for ~$40 a bottle, there were no sale signs or anything like that though… I asked a guy staking shelves who said it seems like a pricing mistake but at the register I bought a case and they asked no questions and it scanned for $28.95 :) Get in while it's still cheap!!!

I'm not sure if this deal is at other Dan Murphy's or how long it will last so feel free to comment if you find it at other stores…

UPDATE: "Masham" comments below… "To clarify - this price is also available in other DM stores - at least in VIC. Just checked for South Yarra :)" Seems like it's much more widely available than I thought :)

Oh and a Boozle link to see how much it normally costs…

Yeh, if only 7/11 were selling the Bull for $1 today, not Mother.

      • +1

        Mother might work?

        • +1

Mother works. Some clubs use Mother instead.

          • @Knightelf: Do they charge the same price as other clubs that use Red Bull?

  • case? planning a big night?

    • +1

      Hahahahaha There's only 6 to a case/box and I am a uni student ;)

  • +2

Damn I remember when the regular price was $25 a bottle!

is it true that if you buy a case you get chased by slurries?

    • wow. just wow.

  • +1

    I'm under 18 but here's a +ve anyway :D
    $29 compared to the $40 regular…. Definite worth a +ve

    • Sits at $45 when not on sale at liqourland and BWS

      • Liquorland and BWS are just like Dan Murphy's… except with a much smaller range and much higher prices. Specials at BWS barely match Murphy's regular prices.

        • although on the flip side dan murphys always have whatever specials BWS have..

    • Trance N Dance Hmmm maybe we need to introduce a over 18 rating system LOL

Coming up on Today Tonight, website encourages minors to binge drink by finding them the cheapest price.

    JAGGGERRBOMBBBBSSSSSSSSSSSS

    awesome price.

  • Great price for those who can get it.

  • +1

$28.95 is a great price. Dan Murphy's Noarlunga had it last week for $34 something while the Westfield Marion store was $31 odd. Usual price is around $35. Stock up at $29/bottle! It's not like it's going to go off.

  • I came back from living in the States with a bottle of this in 1996 or so and not a soul would touch it!

    • -5

      pffffffft americans!!

      • +1

Nah, they all drink it over there. Back here, nobody would touch it until some sales rep decided to start pushing it on the clubs!

        • Maxxy clearly didn't comprehend what you were saying.

Why is booze in Australia so expensive?

    • +2

      Tax?

      • +6

the tax is used to fix all those drunken sods who get into fights glassings etc. Medical support therapy etc, where in the US when they get drunk, they dont maim people, they go for the clean option - just shoot em dead. That saves the govt pleanty of money hence no high taxes - wink

  • Decent price. Though doesn't change the fact I think Jagermeister tastes disgusting.

  • +2

Agree where's the bargain here, just go to the chemist and by Benadryl cough mixture, it tastes exactly the same….

    • -1

Cos it wont ***** u up the way Alkie does? The point - my furry little ozpete friend - is to abrogate consciousness to the degree that the existential ultimates are entirely subjugated to the nether-regions of the unconscious. kwim? Benadryl won't do that..

      • A bit like "Inception"?

        • mmmz i think thats about dreaming? I didnt see that one yet but perhaps Cartesian doubt is more relevant for that one.. im more about death and the unconscious… see: noi the albino, first snow, ma mere, etc..

      • +1

        Pseudo-intellectual much?

This deal makes the German in me smile. It makes the tightass in me smile more. Kudos.

  • +1

To clarify - this price is also available in other DM stores - at least in VIC. Just checked for South Yarra :)

  • Im gonna do this once I have all the req'd ingredients.

  • went to Casula, Dan Murphys and it was $31.40 and that was the normal price lol so i bought it anyway

    • $31.40 is still a great price. It usually retails around $38.95, and I buy it whenever it's under $35.
Unless it has bonuses, like the awesome shot glasses earlier in the year.

  • I've heard of this product, but what is it? Type of Rum?

    EDIT: Found out;-

"Jägermeister’s ingredients include 56 herbs, fruits, roots, and spices including citrus peel, liquorice, anise, poppy seeds, saffron, ginger, juniper berries and ginseng.[4] These ingredients are ground, then steeped in water and alcohol for 2-3 days. Afterwards, this mixture is filtered and stored in oak barrels for about a year. When a year has passed, the liqueur is filtered again, then mixed with sugar, caramel, alcohol, and water. It is filtered one last time and then bottled"

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J%C3%A4germeister

Sounds pretty nice. I will try and get one. When do DM usually change their specials?

  • Valid in Syd?

    • i went to casula, NSW and it was $31.40 and that was normal price so i bought it anyway lol considering the above posts and site indicate its normally $40

  • It was 31 dollars something in Top Ryde. Tried it for the first time, was pretty tasty with a diet orange drink- not really into red bull. Anyone know any other mixer that goes well with it?

    • Try ginger ale

    • I usually mix it with Just Juice Premium Orange Juice. It's fine with cola too (Pepsi preferred for me). Some like it straight, with ice.

Jagerbombs, the better option is redbull, but any energy drink will work. I've been considering "Hi NRG" (Vodka Mixer) in a Jagerbomb.

Confirmed Elsternwick/Brighton VIC (Saturday, 24th June).
