Disgusting Service with Groupon

Several weeks ago I purchased something from Groupon. Apparently the courier (couriersplease) tried to deliver the package on a day we were home all day - no call on the intercom, nothing. I called them up to say we were home but never got a call for the parcel. They send it out a second time and again we are home the whole day but nothing. I check again the next day and see that someone by the name of "mary" signed for it. I call up couriersplease to ask who mary is - apparently someone at groupon warehouse that signed for it. I contacted groupon to let them know I never received my parcel. They keep telling me "it was already delivered, please check with your neighbours blah blah". I email them back and fourth over a few days, explaining that someone at their own warehouse with the name "mary" signed for it on return! They finally agree to escalate it and "look into the problem" which will take up to 7 business days. After 7 days I contact them again asking why I haven't received a response or refund. They tell me to wait another "4 business days" to get a resolution!

This is just ridiculous and appalling customer serivce. I won't be purchasing from groupon ever again!

Since I paid with amex, can I just call amex to get a refund through them instead?

Call groupon again and tell them you will initiate a chargeback unless they fix the problem immediately.
Failing that, keep a record of all your correspondence and send it on Amex.

  • Why the heck would they sign for your package??

Honestly, groupon are bad, but CouriersPlease are a joke.

They claimed a parcel was delivered to me - it wasn't - this went on for a few days and then admitted that they had actually lost it. I organised a replacement to be sent asking the company to not use CP (they did) - the replacement came but was left outside in the rain, no signature and record of delivery.

It's no wonder they lose parcels.

CP remind me of that Cranky Yankers UPS call centre.

Last month I got a package through them, they carded it without even attempting to ring on the intercom, said on the card pick up next business day from a newsagent, went there the next day to be told: better come back next week, the package is still with CP!

Wasted 2 trips to the not-so local newsagent (it's about 2.5km away!) with nearly impossible parking to get the package, just because of their lazy a$$ delivery driver.

It's all in the name: Couriers -oh- Please!

      • I have had similar bad experiences.
I don't think I fully understand their "don't ring bell, just dump card saying we missing you in he letterbox".
I know CouriersPlease works on a franchise model. Perhaps they get more money for doing more deliveries (i.e. delivering again the next day)

If it's like others, I think because they only get $x per delivery, they try to squeeze more in.

They figure, get the cards ready, don't waste time trying to find a place, just leave a card. Only deliver to the straight forward places and you can fit in X more deliveries per hour.

        • @tomsco: It's like $1 a parcel up to 25kg.

You can dispute it directly with Amex as goods purchased but not received , You will definitely get your money back within a week , They are very good with disputes

I used to work for Groupon. All their customer service is now done in India.

The amount that they sell, they don't care if you get your package or not. Don't expect your item nor a refund.

Do a charge back to your cc.

Can confirm the poor customer service. The person I spoke with failed to answer my questions with her copy and paste responses.

I did a charge back online through amex and got a refund 1 hour later! They didn't even contact me to discuss it or anything.

  • I wouldnt be surprised if couriers please have given you shonky info. It makes no sense for them to pick up the package from groupon, bring it back to their warehouse and then go back to groupon for a 'delivery' Torpedo 7 used them and they apparently tried to deliver to my address twice while i was home. I had a front door and garage open but still didnt hear or see them with no note left saying they had been here. They only update torpedo7 once a month so i had to wait a while before i could even get a reference number. Ended up picking it up myself to save more stuff ups.

Yes agreed, had too many issues with Couriers Please. Whenever they see a residential address, they always say "no one home, card left in letter box" and there is never a card in the letterbox or a knock on the door. CP maybe a little better now with the new collection points, although my experience still shows that they have more work to get it right.

Groupon can be a pain but Couriers Please are a complete nightmare. I've had to do two chargebacks because of them.

The first time was when they didn't turn up to collect a package I had paid to send with them. I requested a refund on the same day they didn't collect. They issued the refund quickly enough but 8 days later they charged my credit card again and I got a voicemail message from their driver saying he had attempted to pick up the package (8 days after it was booked to collect) which was a lie as my family was home all day. Also, that same day CP left a message with the guy I had already sent the package to (using AusPost) saying they had attempted delivery - of the package they never picked up. I was astounded when they argued about issuing the second refund so I just called my bank and requested a chargeback which was issued a few days later.

The second time was an eBay purchase which wasn't delivered. I felt bad for the poor seller because CP was saying they delivered and had a signature. I did a chargeback with my bank while waiting for eBay to respond to the dispute. eBay automatically found against me after I told them I'd done a chargeback. My bank said CP never provided them with a signature and the chargeback went through.

I think Couriers Please must be the dodgiest company ever - I have no idea how they're still in business. Take a look at reviews on whirlpool and other product review sites, they're full of similar stories.

At least they taught me to always pay with my Visa card even when paying with PayPal.

I think they're called Couriers Please because you have to beg them to do their job.
