  • As long as you cancel your rego you can, so you would just have to go hand in the plates.

  • Take the plates off and cash them in to vicroads to get a partial refund. Sell the car unregistered.
An unregistered car will be less attractive to prospective buyers but if the price is right, it should move.

    • Thanks, I am also interested in selling an old car without rwc.

Might be a dumb question here but the potential buyer can't test drive the unregistered car can they? instead, would you unregister the car after the buyer agrees to buy?

Any issue with the car which is concerning you about cost of rwc?

  • You can sell it with the plates and registration, IF you also sell with RWC. Otherwise, sell it unregistered, removing the plates and getting a refund on the unused portion.
