  • Can you put the branch & state in the title please?
Also add to the description that $500 must be deposited and what dates the promotion is available.

    • Thanks for editing.

I did put the start date in, somehow it did not show up.

  • Nice. Any sydney branch?

    • this is local apparently, the branch has been open for a while but still rather new by bank standard in the area.

I guess that's why they are doing this. It is not even on their website.

  • 5/month account fee……

I bit more about the account

    https://www.bankofmelbourne.com.au/personal/bank-and-save/ba…

The big things is they will charge you $5.00 Monthly account service fee (If you don't deposit $2000 a month). I normally get around this sort of thing by transfering money between accounts. I also couldn't work out the interest rate, does anyone know?

    • 0%.

      2.75% in their savings account.

Related: WTF did they do with their website?

      • They do seem to have got the work experience kid in don't they.

        • I stopped using them shortly after they rebranded to Bank of Melbourne and then Westpac made things even worse :>

        • what were they before?

        • @dennis3107:
I'm not sure where he is leading.
Bank Of Melbourne in 2004 was Westpac owned but operating semi independently, different products, systems formats accounts.

In 2004, Westpac rebranded the Bank of Melbourne branches as Westpac branches.
I was moved to a westpac account, lost access to my account for week because they changed my bank card and account details but had not received yet.

In 2011 Westpac reopened BOM and it is actually Bank of St George.
All the loan and approval documents for my 2011 home-loan was with St George the BSB and account number length was St George. The Insurance products are banked by St George not westpac

All the computer systems and document formats are not Westpac but that of St George

        • All the computer systems and document formats are not Westpac but that of St George

@carlb: Tell that to the SSL certificate on their website. =)

        • @Lukian: good spot, they updated that name when they renewed it mid last year.
however the core internet site, all the amplify vertigo loan and insurance products are St. George BOM shared.

Interesting how they still consider Westpac a competitor as Westpac are not excluded from special promotions.
          2. The promotional balance transfer rates are available when you apply for a new Bank of Melbourne credit card between 5th January 2017 and 30th March 2017 and request at application to transfer balance(s) from non-St.George, Bank of Melbourne and BankSA Australian issued credit, charge or store cards.

that didn't work for me adding >$2000 a month and I would still get a $5 fee most months
until i gave BOM to my employer and transfer >$1000 to ING instead.

BOM recognized? that I was transferring the money from non business account?

also using the BSB and Account of BOM home loan for my salary and transferring the >$2000 month to the BOM Account didn't count and $5/m applied.

The terms expect Salary to be deposited, my transferring from ING or HomeLoan wasn't recognised as a Salary :(

I've since closed the BOM account since it was not the only a misleading, deceptive part of the home loan package.

The part annoyed me the most about BOM
NAB and ING receive my salary 730pm Wednesday
BOM always for some reason i wouldn't see my salary until midday Thursday

      • maybe on the transfer note, put int "SALARY" will do the trick ?

        • probably would for b2b transfers although i can no longer try.
Redraw from homeloan didn't offer a description field.

I have had employers that don't include the word salary, so if the keyword is salary others may also experience unfair $5 month even if their salary is deposited

        • @carlb: I guess most of the bank system will sort by Note first ? what if casual and contract workers ? might get irregular deposit from their payer as well.

        • @dlovep: suppose it will also depend on the software employer payroll, whether transfer are manual or able to use descriptions,
currently the whole description of my employer is salary
previously was the account name Employer name (30 odd characters)
if it had pay or salary it was chopped off for being very long.

These minimum deposit a calendar month do feel discriminatory to those you describe irregular salaried people

$4000 one month nothing for 2
