I'm looking at getting a new phone for an elderly, something around the $300 range. Said elderly does use Chrome, Whatsapp, camera as well as calling and some texting; so I'm not looking for those brick phones with giant keypads. He does not play games or use any heavy apps however.
Battery should be decent. Screen of minimum 5.2"-ish. Camera should be decent, not expecting it to be comparable to a $1000 phone. Preferable one that won't feel old and laggy in a year.
Local stock only. I'm looking at getting it from Officeworks/TGG etc where I can use a 20% off voucher.
A couple of phones that I have nailed down to are:
- OPPO F1s
- Huawei GR5
- Motorola G4 Plus
- ZTE Blade V7+
I have considered the Sony XA for ~$170 from Voda/Target, but 5" screen is a tad narrow and small.
I honestly can't decide between those above phones, which ones would you avoid or get?
Thanks
Moto G4 Plus is the pick for me. It might be the most expensive Moto G ever to be released, but also a damn good one. software is practically bloat free and the battery life is great, camera is also surprisingly competent for a mid ranger. You also get a clearer path for upgrades down the road from Google.
the not so great is the lack of NFC, infrared blaster and e-compass, but I doubt an oldie needs those things.
