Rockwell ShopSeries Dual Action Polisher $71.98 C&C - RRP $124.93 - Supercheap Auto eBay using CSITE20

CSITE20

I was planning to save up a bit more for a better quality dual action polisher but couldn't pass this offer at this price point. This unit seems to have got some good reviews on detail paradise forums, however it is accepted that it does vibrate a lot more and is much noisier than it's more expensive counterparts. Possibly the cheapest it has ever been.

  • I'm tempted too, is this any good?

    • From what I have read it will remove minor scratches and swirl marks, even if it does take a bit longer than the more expensive machines. Hopefully someone with more experience with the actual unit can comment further.

I am watching this too, but not sure it is fit for a beginner like me. Legend says that you can use this for make up

  • Picked one up today - used it to polish the father in laws headlights on his ts Astra (using plastic polish ) worked fine . reasonably light unit with a heaps of power - will be good enough for the odd polish job at home. And what can you get for $70 these days ?

Been using this machine for about a year now. Works great taking out swirls and light scratches on higher speed settings. Would recommend.

Well, I was going to buy it, but I know I'll always wonder what the best ones would be like. So I bought a Rupes earlier this week. Overkill, I know.

    • Aren't they like $600?

      • +1

        Hence the overkill. Yes.

        • So, what are they like? Worth it?

        • +1

@Prevenge: I'm still waiting for it to be delivered. Rumour has it that you can almost do the same with the Rockwell, but it would just take more time and you'll feel much more vibration. Which probably means it's good enough for anyone who isn't requiring one of these for business.

I suspect I'll wear out before the polisher does. But I like nice things and my cars are pretty nice. I'll say they deserve it.

        • @Risto: Ah ok thanks. I might think about getting one once I get a car upgrade. At this stage my car is 6 years old and pretty crappy.

          @Prevenge:

perfect time to shine it up and sell it!

Maybe a personal polisher on a 457 visa might be the go ?

    • chip in with a few mates who also needs the polishing done and air fare is covered.

  • How hard is it exactly to get into removing swirls yourself with one of these? Tutorials generally make it look so easy so I want to see what complete beginners have experienced going at it for the first time

  • Will try it.

  • Anyone know where we can learn how to use one of these machines in Sydney?

  • Can this be used to polish floorboards in the home?

    • Can this be used on teeth?

      • So that means no then?

Can't you answer the question without being rude?

        • Anything is possible, but common sense should provide you your answer. Do you realize how long it would take to polish the floor in an entire house using something like this?

        • Chill mate, I thought you were trolling. But seriously…did you click the link - Rockwell ShopSeries Car Polisher?

I've got one and used it several times. I'd definitely recommend it

How much of a difference will this 600w make compared to the 120w version? I have used the 120w before and it vibrated like crazy.

  • that super crap increase it price again. so dodgy

  • The 1200w is going for $80 after code and C&C.

    http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/Rockwell-ShopSeries-Car-Polisher-18…

Anyone know why the 600w has a higher RRP?

    • +1

1200 is not dual action i believe, its more abrasive.

The one you linked is a rotary polisher, in the wrong hands you could burn thru the clear coat causing alot of damage.

      • +1

Or take it down to bare metal on the edges

  • Bought one yesterday.
    Pretty good for this price.
    Powerful and easy to use.

    Super noisy at speed 4-6.

How much would I need to spend to get something better? ie. is there something better for $100, or would I need to spend $200 to get a better product?

    • +1

The next step up from this would be a DAS6 pro which go for around $250+ from CareCareProducts. If you can deal with the extra noise and vibrations then I would assume both would achieve similar results in comparison. Don't forget, a lot is also dependant on technique and the products you use (cutting pads/compounds) etc.

Cheers - have bought one. Ready for pickup

Been a long time since I've polished my cars. I used to do it every 6 months, but then along came a baby and now there's no time to even wash the car!
