Action camera

Hi all,

My go pro hero (most basic edition) stopped working so target refunded me 200. I'm heading to Japan in 2 weeks and want an action camera… Hoping for some tips.

Ideally I don't want to be spending 500 but if that's going to get me better value I will bite the bullet.

What are your thoughts?
I can go for another go pro hero + (250 at jbhifi)
Sony as50 (200 at jbhifi) http://www.sony.com.au/electronics/actioncam/hdr-as50
Or I was looking into the xiaomi yi 2 although I can't find a seller for a refinance price.

Would love any pointers :)

    I bought the Sony HDR-AS200V earlier this week. Using the ebay 20%, it came down to about $224 for a refurbished model. Haven't used it yet (was delivered in 2 days) but reviews are overall positive and generally outperforms the Hero 4. Unfortunately though, they sold out of them on ebay but there are some being sold privately. The model I bought can be seen here: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/281929786996

      Interesting thanks for that. The as50 for 200 from jbhifi is only 10 dollars more than factory seconds so I guess that's a viable option:)

        Guess it won't get here in time for your trip if you buy from most chinese sites. Maybe ebay have one located closer with faster shipping.

          The ones I saw were gearbuy, general advice is to avoid them.

          If you know of a good seller, happy to go down that road and then just borrow a friend's gopro or something for the trip :)

          @johnzak: Outside of the US, Yi Technology have an official Aliexpress store and sites like Gearbuy are resellers. There are no official Australian stores stocking Yi.

          @Clear: thanks, thinking it may be best to wait on gear best to have a sale. Cutting it fine with only a week and a half to get it.

    I have 2 hero + which have worked magnificently.
    I got them for $130 ea at surf stitch ebay on a sale
