Hi All,
I'm off to Vietnam from Late January to Mid February.
Can someone please recommend me a Ha Long Bay Overnight Cruise? I'm 21, young, male, and travelling solo. I would like to enjoy the cruise for the party + adventure activities (kayaking canoeing etc.).
There appears to be heaps of options and a crazy price range.
Please recommend something so I can go ahead and purchase :)

I went to the old one and I'm not much of a partier, but have to admit I had a cracking time solo. It was a good mix of things to do and the place is beautiful. The backpacker scene is very drink heavy btw, so expect to do early activities alone as the mass slowly recovers from their hangovers.
The bus trip from Hanoi however is horrid. The roads are mediocre, traffic is scary and the only alternative is a helicopter (which I actually considered on the way home just wanting a hot shower and soft bed)

There are cheaper cruises, but the boats can be crap.
It won't matter who you go with really, as they all take the same route, and stop off at the same caves.
I've done Bhaya too - the boat is beautiful, staff are amazing and the food is great. Definitely recommend as well x
Thanks so much Benson - I've definitely kept your suggestion in mind. Would you say I suit the demographic of that Bhaya Cruise? i.e. Single, Solo male traveller, 20 years old. I dont drink alcohol/drugs, but I enjoy a bit of partying :)
As a backpacker, if you are looking for basically a massive piss-up and just a bunch of drunk sex with other young backpackers you could always go with Halong Bay Castaway Tour, its pretty much a Geordie Shore episode on Halong Bay (depending on the people. You'll love it or hate it and its really overpriced.

My second trip back there, i just did a standard boat, which was full of family's and old people.
Make sure you do a two night trip and not a single night.
Agreed. Quite a trip to Halong bay, so make the most of it.
Wife and I did the Hong Ngoc a few years back.
Highly recommended.
Great rooms, great service, clean, doesnt smell like booze, vomit and sex everywhere … unless that is what youre after XD
Stay on Cat Ba island, beautiful island with national park, cheap and not many people and can do cheap ha long and lan ha bay tours from here. Day tour $15 USD
If you do go to Cat Ba, check out Asia Outdoors. Fantastic adventure tours including rock climbing, hiking, and kayaking.

The Legend is the one you'd want - cheaper, younger audience, more singles. Others are more couples.
Then again you may want cheaper + dodger again, the lower you go the more backpackers there will be.
