I recently decided that the Huawei Ascend Y550 I had in storage would be a suitable phone for me now.
As it was locked to Vodafone I went online to the Vodafone Australia website to get it unlocked for $25.
Today, I went into my drawer full of SIM starter packs (thanks OzBargain) and chose a Woolworths $30 Starter Kit that I got for $1.00! ( Not a misprint :P )
The activation was successful and all went well so I thought…
I pushed the SIM chip into its slot and turned the Mobile Data on, but it was showing no signal bars.
So I checked the APN settings and network operations but it wouldn't let edit the Telstra APN settings which seemed strange.
So I put onto the Telstra Support website and clicked the link to the Service Status web-page, so I proceeded to put my postal code in and this comes:

What ideas on what I could do to lessen the impact / solve this issue?
Telstra is always having problems so best to avoid buying SIMs that link you to Telstra.
