Travel Cards (ATM Withdrawals and Credit Card)

Hi Guys,

For a while I have been using 28 Degrees as my usual go to for o/s purchases and my qantas card for any cash withdrawals. I'm a bit out of touch as to what is best when it comes to a credit card for purchases and a card for withdrawing cash?

  • Citibank Plus for ATM cash withdrawals. Well covered all over OZB. Do a search.
It is a debit card and can also be used online and at merchants. IE need to have the funds in the account.

    • Saw that but wanted to make sure it's still the case…now just need a decent cc

        28 Degrees still works.

I think Bankwest zero platinum mastercard is a better international card now, it also provides complimentary Travel Insurance provided >$500 of travel cost is charged to the card, I use the below combo for my travel:

        • Citibank Signature Rewards (annual fee free for life) for paying ticket with complimentary travel insurance & points
        • Citibank plus for overseas ATM cash withdrawals
        • Bankwest platinum (annual fee free) for overseas purchases
        • But BankWest are more stringent about your income, and credit rating.
Whereas 28D seems to be giving it away left right and centre

        • By $500 of the travel cost is that limited to the ticket or could it just be some accommodation? What about cover for parter?

        • Yes, ticket/tax, accommodation, or any prepaid overseas itinerary items.

Spouse and dependent child/children are also covered, as long as you travel together, and each spent >$500 on the card before the travel on the above items. Subject to the fine prints…

28D used to be the best, however there are a lot of issues recently.
