Note - you need to call to get this deal on corporate pricing. When you're on the phone ask about the cats card. I got it confirmed so ordered yesterday and it's being delivered today. The HP phone number is 132347

This is an improvement on the following deal posted in November that was expired but shouldn't have been: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/273528

The improvement is that HP are now offering a $250 visa cash card on any purchases over $1900. This means that you can get the highest spec version of this laptop at a 33% corporate pricing discount (they do up to 40% discount but must be only doing 33% as it's a new model) plus get a further $250 cash card making the net cost $2019 (£3399 less 40% less $250 cash card) for an 7th gen i7, 16gb ram, 1tb SSD ultrabook. They have stock so delivery is next day. Please read the original post for further information.

With regards to the quality of the laptop, I curently have a Dell XPS 13 and was thinking about buying a new one until this came out. While it has a slightly larger footprint it has a better battery life, is faster (the best benchmark stats of any ultrabook), has better sound and a better positioned webcam. It's also much cheaper when you use this deal.

My company was on their corporate list but as the previous poster says they seem to be offering it to anyone

  • I see no discount on the website. Am I doing something wrong?

    • Me either. I don't think the op has clearly explained how to get 40% off.

      • I just saw that they mention you need to call to get corporate pricing. Could be made clearer.

        • +1

          Just made it clearer

        • @carleast:

Ill call tomorrow and see how I go.

        • @carleast: What company name did you use?

  • +2

    Hello
Can you please check your calculation
    $3399 * 40% = $1359.60 Visa Card = $250
    Therefore this laptop should be $3399 - $1359.60 - $250 = $1789.40

    • You're totally right. I didn't do the maths properly which was stupid on me. It's actually just over 33%. They advertise that corporate discounting is up to 40% but in this case they seem to be doing 33% for their X360 Spectre. I'll correct it.

  • better get dell xps 13 9360

    • +2

Why when this is either just as good or better (I have an XPS 13) and its cheaper for the same specs?

  • Is this good for $1789? Was looking for a new work computer and the 1TB caught my eye as these things are indestructible aren't they? Was going to go for dell Inspiron 15 without SSD for $1299 but I dont like the integrated buttons on the touchpad.

    • Yes it is a good price. No this not indestructible. This laptop is no where near the same as a HP elitebook. The same specs on an elitebook would set you back $3400

    • As fredz says this is not a business laptop. It's an ultrabook. Its superbly made but you wouldn't want to drop it.

  • So you can call up and get this without being eligible?

  • +1

i just got one but i was asked what my business name was which i provided. They did not seem to care what business name you provide.
I actually got the 512gb model for $2,003 (plus I'll get the $250 cash card on top of that) because i do not need 1tb.

    • I tried calling them and they asked for company name, i gave a fake name and they said no. What company name did you say?

      • Try a different sales rep. Give a name that exists incase they check it. My one is a genuine business name but they misspelt it on the invoice which makes me wonder if the rep i spoke to did any check.

  • Being a HP laptop, this is not a bargain.

    • Lol, why? Have you read all the reviews and then compared the spec to others? As a loyal Dell customer I thought I would buy them again but they can't compete with this deal.

      • Extremely dodgey Australian operation. They copped a 3 million dollar fine and then continue with the same fraudulent practice.

A lot of their late 2000's early 2010's have a bug where the machines never come back from hibernate. They even have the nerve to try and hide it in the default installs by setting the time to hibernate to hundreds of hours - so it never kicks in. Hibernate is critical when working from battery.

They have zero tech support people in Australia. Their only support is call centre staff working from screen prompts. They are very ordinary in their knowledge. HP's main income is to business and their dealers are expected to do the support - with no help from HP.

There are heaps of other issues, but that will do.

  • This is a good deal if you are looking for a consumer laptop.

If you are looking to use it for business purposes then you are probably better off waiting for the HP Elitebook x360 which was announced at CES 2017 and should be out within the month.

Major advantages of this over the Spectre X360 for BUSINESS users are:

    • more ports
    • more durable - Designed to pass MIL-STD4 testing and comes with gorilla glass
    • comes with Windows 10 Pro
    • potentially longer warranty???
    • Any idea of the price range for this?

  • I have been comparing the specs of the Spectre x360, Lenovo Yoga 910 and the new model Surface Book (double the price almost so it's already out of contention!). I was leaning toward the Yoga because of the bigger screen 13.9" v Spectre 13.3", and the cheaper retail price of the Yoga against the Spectre.
Apart from being a good deal, is there a reason why the Spectre x360 is better than the Yoga 910?
    Cheers.

  • How you guys managed to get both promotions? as i called and the lady says you only get one either corporate pricing or cash card

    • +1

Yes, when I ordered mine she went away to check with a manager and confirmed yes. If I don't get it then I'll call back and refer to the recording of the original sale.

      • Just ordered mine now. How long did it take you to receive your redemption code from the order date?

        • you dont get the code straightaway?

        • @scheps: no. They said they'll send it after it ships. Is that the case for you?

        • @ozchobie: sorry I haven't actually bought one. I just wonder if you will ever get the code …. or has anyone gotten a code

  • Anyone know if the SSD is self-upgradeable?

  • +1

Hi guys I tried calling but I need a company they have listed does anyone have any ideas?

    • Yeah I am in the same boat and hoping to get a corporate discount but my company isn't listed. Any ideas for a company name I can give them?

      • me too. i wonder which compasny they quoted

  • I had to email them about the visa card but they sent through the registration email straight away. So all good.

  • So do you simply call, mention this product and ask for a corporate discount?

  • Thanks for sharing this OP. I just secured one for myself through corporate account at the same rate. Very happy.

  • How do we get the discount and Visa card? Online chat or call?

  • They r asking company name ): but I dnt have

  • This worked perfectly for me, just purchased over the phone with a corporate discount.

    Thanks!

    • which company name did you use?

  • Spoke to the HP online chat today and the Visa cashback offer expired on 10 February 2017.

  • can we give the company name where we are contractor?? do they verify our employment??
