How much for the second year?

    • Can be anything from a couple of dollars to hundreds of dollars depending on the domain, so make sure to check carefully! Whoisguard is US$2.88/yr.

USD $0.88c + $0.18 icann fee per year if you get a domain with promotional multiyear renewal. I got a .science for 10 years for USD $10.60.

      The steps are:

      1. Register a new domain for 1 year
      2. Go to Account > Domain List
      3. Click your new domain's MANAGE button
      4. Click the ADD YEARS button and select up to 9 years
      5. Remove WhoisGuard or apply the WGSPECIAL promo code to your cart to make it USD $0.99 per year
      6. Pay
      7. Repeat the whole process if you want to add more years

In the past I've found .pw domains have a good amount of 3 letter ones available. Good for your own URL shorteners

Uniregistry is cheaper on an annual basis, also offers free whoisguard for the life if the domain. The trade off is it doesn't have any email redirect service.

I think namesilo offers a domain cheaper than namecheap, and also has free whoisguard and other stuff, but it's a smaller registrar.

    • The FAQs shows you can add MX to your domain.

      • Haha yeah you can most certainly add mx records! Pretty useless registrar if you couldn't!

Some registrars will provide free email redirection (eg forward all emails sent to the domain to another email address)

        • A lot I've come across charge for adding MX under there "DNS Plus" fee

  • As mentioned above beware of the renewal fees as they might be way more expensive as one would expect. I have a couple off them so far so good.

  • Thanks for reminding me about this OP. Got myself a shiny new .science domain for USD $0.88 + $0.18 icann fee, then went and renewed it for 9 years. 10 years for USD $10.60 all up is a bargain!
