  • Your site doesnt show the itinerary nor items included in the price so you should explicitly point those items in your post at least. Also how about visa and extras?

  • Hello there !

Both the website and the post clearly mentions what is included in the price. Regarding the itinerary, this is for group joining trek beginning on 24th March with arrival on Kathmandu. We expected people to write us for the itinerary as it is customized itinerary and we already people sign in for the date.
The cost is only for the trekking part from Kathmandu to Kathmandu. Visa, International flight (to Kathmandu and back), accommodation and meals in Kathmandu, trekking insurance are extra.

  • Hi I thought China closed Everest/Tibet to tourists in March? I was just planning to go until 3 places told me that. How do you get around that? :)

Hi Anj. If a trek to base camp is what you are after, the Nepal side is definitely the better option. Its a classic, and the same route done by Hillary and Tenzig back in the day. The China side you can literally drive to base camp, and is supposedly barren in comparison.

On the other hand if you wanted to get a taste of (slightly) climbing Everest, the North side is the less technical "easier" option, especially just to get to one of the lower camps (dont expect to do that for $1,700 though). It also avoids having to do the relatively dangerous khumbu glacier section to get to camp 1 on the South side.

On a side note, my first name is Anj (ridiculously uncommon name in Oz), and I'm going on a EBC trek in March. So seeing your post has completley freaked me out, and made me feel like I'm in a Star Trek parallel universe episode. Fascinating stuff.

      • Hey thanks for the info too :)

Things are always changing (work/uni) so I might still do it.. I'll have to wait and see.

lol its short for Andrew (mum's nickname that stuck lolz). Live long and prosper! <3

    Hello Anj !

This trek is from Nepal side which is the world famous trek. You fly to Kathmandu and trek to Everest base camp on Nepal side. Everest is in the border of two countries Tibet and Nepal. The top is officially in Nepal but it is allowed to climb from Tibet as well. You can drive to the Everest base camp in Tibet side. You are right Tibet remain closed during March. You can do it either in February or April. After earthquake they have closed the overland border but you can fly in and out of Lhasa.

    • Thats makes much more sense and I didn't know that. Thanks :)

It's a bit steep, talk about hiking prices!

    • +3

are you expecting to pay rock bottom prices?

      • +3

Did you peak at their fees? The price really climbs once you summit up!

  • +1

I'd be keen to do it but I'm terrified of getting summit fever
like I did when I went to the pub in Hobart one night and made a early morning attempt on Mount Wellington that ended in glorious ignominy.

    • Everest trek is carefully designed with two rest days for acclimatization. So a fairly fit person with hiking experience can easily do it. Drinking alcohol is not recommended while hiking up to the base camp as it causes dehydration and makes you vulnerable to altitude sickness. Drinking at least 3 liter of water and trekking high and sleeping low helps with altitude.

  • Can be found much much cheaper else where. Or even cheaper if you wait until you get there and bargain with the hundreds of different tour operators.
