Cancelling a Completed Tinting + Protection Service on a Brand New Car, Advises on What to Inspect Please?

Hi all,

After completing a lengthy research and haggling with the local dealership, I have bought myself a brand new floor stock car from Audi.

It is a black colour vehicle with metallic paint.

However, I was sold with their protection package (including internal & external protection + window tinting) for $2,200.

Initially I thought the service was carried out by the Audi dealer workshop (as all the advertising materials had Audi logo on it and the promoter did not mention any 3rd party's company name at all).

But later to find out the service was performed by a company call Motor One.

After going through series of reviews including the effectiveness of the product as well as the warranty claiming / services, I then decided to cancel the agreement on the car protection packages. However, I was then told that tinting and protection works had being completed

Then through a services of debate and negotiation, the dealer agreed to remove the tint and protection package due to the fact that I was not informed by them that the service will be carry out by a 3rd party. (I believed I was kind of being misled). Money was also refunded.

Eventually, the payment for the car has now being cleared and both the salesman and I are still awaiting for the removal work to be completed.

I was informed by the salesman that the car will be re-conditioned to its brand new condition.

But is there anything in particular I should be aware of when picking up the vehicle? In particular the exterior metallic paints?

Many thanks in advance.

  • Yeah right, removal work…

    That's all BS.

You'll see the car in the exact same condition as you last saw it.

    • At best, they'll remove the window tint film. They're not going to remove a paint protection package - it's more work for them for zero value - it's easier to just let you have it for free.

      • This

Tint will be stripped. Paint protection stays.

Must've made enough money out of you to just rule it out so easily ;)

  • As far as I know the tint had been removed, the dealership still not sure about the protection package works.

But I am little bit more concerned about the so call "paint protection" might actually damage vehicles' original metallic paint during the removal works.

    • Like others have said, it's an additional cost (i.e., further loss) to remove the protection.

I'd be surprised if they even removed the tint; I've done so before and it's a bitch of a job (though brand new tint might be easier than 20yo stuff!)

  • Well done, not getting scammed into the protection package. High margin scam, if I ever saw one.
