I was just curious on how much other people in the OzBargain community had in their bank account when they were 18 and how they've come to accumulate that amount. Also, how much have you got now and your current age.
Myself: I'm 18 years old and currently have $13,000
EDIT: I had accumulated the amount through government funds.

I actually have no idea at all, and it was only 3 years ago.
As it was 1995 when I was 18 the balance would be irrelevant compared to today's $$$ value. I'ld say as a completely rough guees.. $5500 which would be the equivalent of $13,000 in today's value.
However I can tell you I accumulated it all by working my back-side off at K-Mart on weekday evenings & weekends
at 18 I would have had roughly $11.60 in the bank. It would have been leftover from my previous weeks pay.
I'm currently 33 and I now have $300 in the bank. It is also leftover from my last pay (although I get paid monthly now, rather than weekly)
Not everyone was 18yo at the same time (same year), so as above, the actual value of it today would be irrelevant. Not to mention, some 18yos would have worked to buy a car, and have their money tied up in their 1st or 2nd car. At 18, you could be in uni or be in fulltime work, so different income streams there.
Not really sure on the point of this post? OP, are you trying to judge how well/not well you've saved? Is this a school assignment?
In my family we never got birthday presents or pocket money ever, it was $50 into our bank account every month, a bit extra on birthdays or when we got A's on piano exams etc… Bank account wasn't to be touch till we got to uni i.e 18 and then it was suppose to help with uni fees, car or house (yeah right). I can't remember how much I had but assuming from dollarmite age to 18 it would have been at least 9-10k.
@ 18 (in 2009): Had around $18k. Worked at McDonalds and Coles from the age of 15 and didn't go out drinking or partying. Did not attend schoolies week and went into full time work immediately.
@ 25 (Now): Purchased a townhouse (@ age 23) with $100k I had accumulated, and now have $45k in the bank, and a 2 year old car
About 10k on my 18th birthday, but around 40k on my 19th. Just from working full time after high school.
Next to nothing. What ever I had was gone by my next pay day on alcohol and nightclubbing.
18 - 10k from casual work.
19 - 30k from full time traineeship.
20 - 50k from full time job.
Only recently turned 20 so long way for me.
$0 of my own. While I never worked (paid work that is) I was and am on a few charity committees. Still have yet to find paid work.
