Floor Stock Fridge - Buy or Not?

Saw this fridge…

Panasonic NR-BY552XSAU. The fridge is marked as ex display and has a price tag of $1195. Maybe I can haggle a bit. Just want to know whether it is worth buying an ex display fridge? Anything that I should ask in particular when negotiating a deal?

  • Hmm Factory Second on eBay (NSW) for $899, or same thing in Vic for $1099

Otherwise looks to be an older model, stores aren't selling it brand new

I'd just be checking all the plastics. I can imagine it would be easy to break some if you tried opening them wrong, or kids playing with them.

    • Thanks. Yes, it is an older model but has got good reviews. This particular fridge is within my price range. The newer models are quite expensive.

I will check the plastics as you mention good point about kids playing with them.

      • Yeah I saw it was posted on here in 2015 and people were happy with it, and you're right it actually reviews well on Product Review (which isn't normal!)

      • Hi, I have had the same fridge since 2013.

This is about the best price you can get for a "brand new" BY552XSAU, normally this fridge will cost around $1300 (after all sorts of in store discounts) or cheaper on The Good Guys eBay during their 20% off deals (Roughly $1200).

My advise is to haggle the price down to around $1000.

My personal review on this fridge is great until there are some noises appeared 3 years after purchasing from the side as well as the fridge door when opening or closing the fridge. (Not a major deal but kind of annoys)

I bought the extended warranty but they informed me this isn't a fault (as the fridge is still functional).

But anyway, I do recommend this fridge over other brand like Samsung or Hisense.

        • Thanks. Will try my best to get it down to $1000 at the very least. Btw, is the fridge made in China or Japan?

        • It is Made in Thailand (If nothing has changed since 2013 when I got it)

  • Did you buy it?

A mate who fixes fridges said If it made is Thailand that's a good thing.
