Lenovo Yoga 910 Highest Spec or Dell XPS 15

Hey Ozb.

I have a personal dilemma.
I've just sold my MB12" and looking to buy my next laptop.

I cannot decide between the Lenovo 910 highest spec (16gbram) or Dell XPS..

Was going to bite the bullet on the base 256gb 8gb Lenovo however it sold quick at 1889!
I had 8gb ram on my mb12 however with my habit of tabs the device chocks up the ram very quick..so I figure i need minimum 16gb +

I love the dell xps screen but many forums with touch pad and coil whine issues.

Would go for xps 13 but only 8gb ram

Both options offer in paper good battery life

I also frequently use my laptops then sell after 6 months to a year.

  • …can't seem to decide on what to vote on your poll.

Should I vote #1, or instead maybe, go for #1 ??

  • BUSINESS LAPTOP!!

    Stuff these consumer crappers.

Lenovo Thinkpad or Dell Latitude or HP Elitebook 1040 G3/840 G3 or Zbook

    • Why a business unit? There is a latitude 13 online for 1399 normally 2.9-4k

    • The Yoga 910 is a business-class laptop. At least, according to reviews. Aluminium unibody too.

(not that making a notebook out of Aluminium gives it business-class credibility)

    • I thought XPS is classed as part of Dell's business range.

      • no.

It's consumer or proconsumer, which is another way of saying overpriced consumer products.

  • I just pulled the trigger on a HP spectre x360. It's the same price at the lenovo (friends bringing it over from the states)i7-7500u, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD FHD screen.

The next choice is the lenovo. At this price point I wasn't going to look at anything that felt plasticy. From the performance perspective the lenovo and HP both use the i7-7500U which is faster than the Dell si7-7Y75. review

    • What's your view on how warranty will work? Funny that I was just looking to getting the Samsung Notebook 9 from overseas.

I've used a HP spectre standard in the past was not a fan of the silver keyboard on top of a silver keyboard base

I keep leaning towards the Lenovo for my pick but that's 2.5k !#@$

Must admit i had a chance to feel the touch pad of the 910 at jb the other day..SMOOTHEST I've ever felt…texture wise haha

      • Sorry for the late reply. I buy it on platinum credit card so it comes with extended warranty and I'll claim through them. I had my friend open the box and test all the functions so I know it all works before it leaves the US so no dead on arrival issues.

I agreed the silver on silver is not ideal. I was hanging out for a dark ash one but it hasn't been released with the kaby lake chip.

Would go for xps 13 but only 8gb ram

    XPS 13 has a 16GB variant at http://www.dell.com/au/p/xps-13-9360-laptop/pd

    • How come when i load through i cannot see this spec? Never been able to.

      • Start filtering by spec, it begins the customisation process where you can select 16gb

        • I found it, thank you. Now Dell at 2999 or Lenovo at 2599. Hmmm

  • I like the thunderbolt port in the XPS because it future proofs it a bit and means that it can be very powerful if you attach a external GPU in future.
