Getting an Amex Platinum and wondering how these cashbacks work.

Are statement credits/cashbacks two separate things? Do they work for the platinum card? Or only certain other ones.

You log on to Amex Connect site (you will need to create a log in & link your Amex)

Read through offers (different Amex cards are offered different deals…e.g. Your platinum card should be offered more deals than a Amex/bank card), choose offers that appeal to you & save to your card (or cards if you have multiple amex accounts).

Alternatively…read the ones posted on OzB, click on link, log in, etc. The site will let you know if applicable to your card.

Make your purchase.

Cash back may take a few days to show up on your account. It will be itemised separately from the purchase

Generally-speaking, they apply to all Amex cards (although some offers are specifically for Amex-issued Amex cards). Certain offers may appear specifically for your card, and certain offers may not. But if not, you can usually enrol for an offer manually. The manual enrolment links are usually posted by some kind OzBer, who has access to them.

After that, it is a matter of doing the qualifying spend. Usually, a few days afterwards, the cashback will appear in your account.
