Overpaid Balance Transfer

Hi OzB,

I had a BT done and the new bank have overpaid my old CC (by $1150). What should i do? Wait until it gets picked up on and taken back?

but the overpaid amount still appears on your new card, right??
if you withdraw the credit from your old card it is effectively an interest free loan of 1150 for the duration of the interest free BT period?

Depends on card company. I got Amex refunded an extra amount from BT to my personal bank account without incurring any fee. With Amex, you can go online and have a chat with them. With other banks, look for online chat function or give them a call. It's quite a routine process.

I wouldn't try to transfer the extra amount by myself without consulting the card company, as that may be treated as cash advance transaction.
