OVO mobile rant...

Hi guys
Bear with me here.

But basically, I wanted to switch to ovo mobile from my Anaheim network. Cool.

Amaysim resets on the 31/12/16 so to activate it before that day, I started activation on the 28/12/16 after talking to support and they suggested me to activate on this day, you know more than 48 hours to transfer. Then the day came, it never got transferred, I was a bit annoyed, asked if porting process can he held, they said "we'll send this to our operations team" and never got a reply after that.

Now, 4 days later it finally ported, but that means I was with amaysim for 4 days and I need to pay for the month…

Like man… Am I an idiot for not activating earlier because Christmas/new years or unfortunate that my plan reset was on that day?

Also their customer support is slow, like probably slower than trying to contact centerline

Has this ever happened to anyone? Can I even do anything about it?

PS: yeah my plans are like $10 but I'm a poor uni student and it's more of the principle of the matter than the money.

    yeah i hear you, i had my problems with them too.

    I feel for the staff, they just have to deal with people angry, and i suspect that they have poor systems in place to achieve what people expect.

    but thats the price we pay for getting cheap deals i guess?

    i might move back to optus, on a ipad plan for data and pool it with a cheap plan….. they offer good add ons like free netflix, ect…

    You will get refunded pro rata from Amaysim.

    Yep exactly, you won't be paying for the whole month. It'll probably only cost you a couple of dollars

    • Doesn't it go something like minimum cost per month or something?

      • Minimum cost per month refers to the monthly cost of the plan, and just means that if you go over your plan inclusions (eg. $500 calls per month) then the extra usage will be charged on top of the monthly cost. Not really related to this.

        You will almost definitely have to contact them to initiate the refund; just explain the situation as you have done here. Use the live chat, it's not that bad.

        • Contacted them, they said the $9.90 will be attached to the next billing and they can't do anything about it.

        • @kaykaykay: Yeah with the cheaper companies they charge you the whole month, so you have to actually change before the end of the month to make sure you don't get charged it.

    Hey, exactly the same happened to me, with different companies though. I am affradid you are stuck with Amaysim for one more month. Just ask Ovo if they can hold the transfer for one more month.
