  • APC is Australia’s most influential computer magazine and the preferred monthly magazine for "power users" and IT professionals. Every month APC presents news and analysis of the issues behind technology, hands-on articles and detailed reviews of the latest PC products, systems, components, peripherals and software.

TechLife makes computer technology accessible to people who share an enthusiasm for new technology and what it can do.
While most computer magazines are full of jargon and aimed at experts, TechLife gives practical hardware and software reviews and how-to tutorials, catering for all levels of computer enthusiats (sic).

This used to be my favourite computer magazine, I subscribed to it for many years. Then the iPad was released, and have never bought another computer magazine since.

I've since tried a few digital magazines but have always found that the vast majority of articles in monthly magazines are "old news" come publication date.

always found that the vast majority of articles in monthly magazines are "old news" come publication date.

      In this month's issue:

      • Fastest new 75MHz DX4 notebooks
      • Multimedia PCs and upgrade kits
      • The power and potential of PCMCIA
      • Windows 4.0 preview
      • The Info Superhighway: Will computers, media and communications really converge?
      • Are PDAs ready for prime time?

LOL…..You're telling me there's nothing on Iomega's new 100mb Zip drives?

Pay for a publication that is literally half advertising? That's before we get to the undeclared advertorial content.

Darnit! The PC Powerplay subscriptions aren't as cheap. Just as well, I get all my PC and gaming info from tech forums and youtube these days but it's nice to be able to kick back on the couch and read a gaming mag once in a while.

  • Powerplay is $199 for 26 issues which seems pretty good. I'd subscribe if they had a no-DVD version, why they insist on including DVDs baffles me.

    • Have you considered throwing the DVDs away?

      • Pretty sure B3 meant that a cheaper version of the magazine with no DVD would be good.

I'd agree. Having recently considered buying a PC Powerplay mag but not going ahead because of the higher price these days, I'd be happy for them to do away with the disc and have the price go down.

        • 1/3rd off if you buy a digital edition (3 issues for $15 on zinio) but you could probably find a better offer from time to time.

      • Yes I've thrown dozens of those DVDs away and am sick of paying from them. They used to have DVD and non-DVD editions with the non-DVD being cheaper, but no more.

  • I subscribed those magazines for many years especially PC User magazine (old name) but when they changed the new design and pattern of the magazines, I don't like much. So I stopped my subscriptions. But still I am receiving emails about their great price deals.

Same here, PC User was a favourite, then they changed to a general tech mag I lost interest immediately….. :(
