Not good on this topic so would appreciate some help.
Looking for the best joint bank account for me and the mrs for general day to day banking
There will be about 4k deposit each month
Only want/use visa/mastercard debit
Dont currently have any reward accounts (ie velocity etc)
Online purchases here n there
I currently paywave 99% of the time
Approx 10 direct debits between us a month

Hard to go past ING with the free ATM withdrawals and solid internet banking/apps.
Also use and recommend ING because they rebate ATM fees. Another option is Bank of Sydney which is $12/year, but has 1.25% interest, Visa debit card, Android Pay and the thing I got it for, Apple Pay. Can't comment on their service yet as I only just applied, but the application process was all online and instant approval.
citibank plus if you want to travel. Doesnt have the atm range of ING or any rewards, but its a great no fees simple card.
Bankwest zero transaction account, no fees, you get access to all big 4 banks ATMs fee free (plus BW ATM's of course). Android pay is available, mastercard debit etc. No interest paid on savings although you can link it to an online saver account at approx 1.5%
ING in a heartbeat. every ATM in Australia is free to use including those private ATMS in pubs, and their savings account is 3.00% p.a. which is one of the highest (second to ME bank @ 3.05%p.a.)
I think ING is still best even without 2% paywave cashback.
