Your Two Best PC Games Released in 2016

… and a 1 sentence only explanation as to why.

Fallout 4: I've played all the Fallout Games barring New Vegas and despite it's many shortcomings for me it's a solid Fallout game that I still haven't finished.

Grow Up: It makes me grin like a little kid :D

Dark souls 3: Interesting lore/story, excellent combat and moderate difficulty.

Witcher 3 Blood and Wine Expansion (if this counts) : Amazing game with great content added, easily worth the money spent.

Otherwise 2016 has been a pretty bad gaming year for me :(

  • Overwatch: best multiplayer game of the year, has the trademark Blizzard polish and bug-fixing support. Well balanced gameplay.

Doom: Brings back the much-sought-after visceral FPS gameplay elements of the past: no regenerating health, no cover system, no aiming down sights, no sprint — keeping it to barebones oldskool fps.

  • No Man's Sky? Nah BF1, Watch Dogs 2 and Pokemon Go.

      Pokemon Go.

      Nerd Rage on

Pokemon Go isn't even a PC game, let alone being a true nintendo game. When you fire up the app, you don't see a Nintendo logo anywhere. The idea started off as a Google Maps April fools joke. Then the mobile app was simply made as a micro-transactions cash-cow and the game was pretty much a re-skin and simplification of the much more complex Niantic game, Ingress.

As an avid poke-fan who's played the first ever Pokemon on a greyscale Game-Boy and cosplayed as Misty (that's me) at Anime conventions I swear on my neck-beard that I will never ever accept PokeGo as a title in the Pokemon franchise

I knew if NMS wouldn't set someone off Pokemon Go would.

        You're a very hot misty 10/10.

I think I need to change my pants

I will never ever accept PokeGo as a title in the Pokemon franchise

I've only played the first 3 gens of Pokemon, but I definitely accept PokeGo as Pokemon game. Although PokeGo is a very simplistic game on the surface, there's still a lot beneath if you really dig into the battle mechanics.

You mean like repeatedly tapping the screen?

Or has that been expanded upon?

          @Scrooge McDuck:

          I guess i meant stats/moves lol

    1. Overwatch its addictive fun and its a solid product that will have support for years from Blizzard.
    2. Rainbow Six Siege technically it came out last year but seeing as how op said fallout 4 and the fact that the game wasnt great at launch it deserves to be on the list. Its sorta similar to csgo but less competitive an has great indoor maps.
If a free weekend pops up for either of these games go play it thats what made me get both of them

    1. Overwatch
    2. Life Is Strange

Dark Souls 3: Being a massive fan of the series this was my top highlight of the year. Great game with faster combat more like bloodborne which was also a great game.

Civilization 6: Great game, loved the previous ones, just need friends so I can stop playing with the CPU :)

Honorable mentions go to Planet Coaster.

Fallout 4 was released in 2015

    (1) Dark Souls 3 by a country mile - From Software has this remarkable ability to balance addictive hardcore RPG gameplay with challenges that frustrate you to the point of throwing your gaming system out a window. Still stuck halfway through the Ashes of Ariandel DLC, but I'll be back for another round of agonising satisfaction very soon I'm sure!

    (2) Grim Dawn. I'd heard about the game while just getting into Path of Exile and snapped it up just before Christmas. One of the best Diablo successors I've played - if you're keen Steam still has it for USD $13.74 (down from USD $24.99)

  • Easily XCom2, plowed so many hours into killing aliens in 2016! Buggy but addictive, great mod community, rewards good strategy instead of brute firepower

  • Rimworld and Inside…. Inside's not exclusive but I had immense difficulty thinking of anything else. I would say Dark Souls 3 like most other people, but I cheesed it with pyromancy through the game so I don't feel like I really experienced it lol.

I don't really get much out of games that are 'fun' anymore; any game is fun, if it doesn't make you think as well it's just a time killer. A game that catches your curiosity or your attention is more appealing to me these days, but that's just my opinion. You remember a well written experience more than you remember 'mad kays to dees'. That's why Inside's deep message and Rimworld's nail-biting colonist survival caught my attention the most.

Also, sure Rimworld was around in 2015, but I discovered it in 2016 and it released on Steam in 2016. So… Rimworld 2016. It's my favourite Dwarf Fortress game that isn't Dwarf Fortress.

  • dead by daylight - great to watch honestly on twitch and also play

    The last guardian

    • The last guardian isn't on PC. And also, having finished it just the other day, I'm very impressed by their ability to make Trico feel like a real animal; it's probably harder to program code that doesn't do what you tell it to, but there were quite a few times where I had to look up what to do, but it turned out I was doing the right thing but Trico just wasn't doing it. That's why I'd probably have to avoid putting it in any top lists for the year, but at least it eventually released, and is a unique enough game in its own right.

      • Oooh yeah whoops doh forgot not pc

Yeah the game was a little buggy but the hype factor was very medals for me. Great marketing and cinematic feel nonetheless.

  • WoW: Legion …. and I dont have any time for a 2nd game :(

    • I have been meaning to return for ages.. The void keeps calling me

  • My backlog has prevented me from actually playing many of the games I bought this year, but I will get to them!

I'd say from what I played:
    Picross 3D: Round 2
    Obduction

From what I haven't had time to play yet (so, what I'm most looking forward to playing from 2016):
The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine
    Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma

  • Overwatch & Pokemon Sun&Moon

  • 1) Doom, because Doom.
    2) Planet Coaster, just such an awesome theme park builder

  • Doom - Fast pace, excellent singleplayer campaign.

BF1 - Still the same chaotic battlefield but with impressive graphics and interesting setting. My goto multiplayer game.

  • well the op named fallout soooo…

    1. War Thunder (yes i know this was released 2013) But given they have more than doubled the games content and added a whole new game mode (Battle ships) this past year id say its fair to say its a 2016 game.. and hey its free and a must play for anyone with too much time!

2.Its a toss up between Planet Coaster and Overwatch for me both fantastic in their own way.. one is extremely clean and balanced and the other has endless possibilities.

    • I play War Thunder and there are no Battleships. Are you referring to the April Fools joke with the pirate ships?

  • Dota and Rocket league

    • 'Released' in 2016…

      • Rocket league - Released 2016 on Xbox
Dota 2 - 7.00 released just before christmas
